A Pledge To Myself

After counting up the dolls in my collection and finding I had managed to amass forty two dolls ranging in size from11.2cm (4.4") to 58.5cm (23") since 14th February 2013, I decided it was time I spent less time adding to my collection and more time playing with my collection.

So in 2015, I will continue with my sewing and knitting (as well as eventually finishing the tree stump), while continuing the story (and adventures) of the three little rascals in my latest story "A Christmas Tale". Please click on the link to read.

Chapter 1 . . . The Introduction.

-oOo-

In the meantime, I have also finished a new skirt design for SD size. The Basque is fully lined with white batiste, the skirt has a hand finished hem and it closes at the back with metal three press studs (snaps). I'd love to know what you think of them . . . are they too short? . . . too plain? . . . would you prefer to see them in pastel colours? . . . any other suggestions?

Model is a Volks SD13 body.

  1. What a neat way to introduce your Christmas fairies. I am curious to see them in their gift outfits given to them by their mysterious benefactor!

Wow that is quite a collection you have there! I often feel the same way as you. Sometimes, you forget to play when you're busy acquiring the sculpts you want. I need to do that more in the coming year myself. Buy less, play more!

The skirts look quite cute. I like the combination of stripes and polka dots.

    1. HI Alasse,
Curious is what I wanted, but they are not ALL fairies you know. :)

Yes, I'm afraid the BJD addiction is much stronger than I imagined it would be and unfortunately for me, I think I am too imaginative for my own good at times...so many things in my mind, so many creative things to do and not enough time to follow through on all of them.

Stripes and spots have always been a favourite of mine, so I am happy you like the combination too. :)

  2. Hello Sandi!
OMG, what a huge collection you have already! Sure you'll have fun playing with them, with as many dolls you can create interesting and varied photo shoots and photo stories ;) And sewing for them, of course.

I've read the first chapter of your Christmas Tale and can't wait to see them in their new outfits and know what happens in the second chapter.

    The skirts look cute.
    Hugs ^^

    1. Hi Lily!
Yes, and I really need to practice my photography more as I am not very good with the camera.

Ha ha! Well it's nice you want to read more Lily, I was hoping that would be the reaction as it was my intention. :)

  3. I loved the tale, I can't wait to read what happened next :D!!! Your writing is so pretty and well done too, it felt like reading a very unique christmas book.

The skirts are very pretty and they would look so cute in pastel colors, but I don't think they are too plain at all. You could also try sewing a big bow at the side to dress it up a bit if you think they are plain, but I think they work just as fine as they are

    1. Oh thank you so much Alejandra, that is so kind of you to say that. I do enjoy writing, especially for those who have an inner child . . . I hope I never loose mine.

I have actually cut out some in softer colours (pink, grey and white Tilda fabric) which I will sew up today and I will try adding a bow as you suggest. I did make another that I added buttons to, and which I am keeping myself. I liked the lilac colour of the jumper I made you, and am making one for my girl to go with that particular skirt.
