Tempting Treats

Although she is far from being complete (no shoes or stockings yet) I thought I'd share a photo of Sibyl in her new dress. I had the fabrics for the dress sitting in my stash for such a long time, just waiting for the right doll to come along and as soon as I saw her, I knew they would be perfect.

Sorry I haven't been online as much lately, but it's been so cold here I have been working on things that I could do in the comfort of my armchair, rather than my studio. Which of course means fiddly things like the finishing detail on the dress above, as well as a few Puki Fee dresses but, more on those later.

The little time I have spent online, has only led me to temptation. I was quite taken with three sculpts from April Story, but I narrowed it down to one. The sculpt is Ishyllia and because she has such a young face, I ordered her with the Junior body, size 'A' bust, flat feet and face up (without the black dots on her mouth). At approximately 54cm, she will make a wonderful sister for my Napi/Voks hybrid.

Now, the price of the doll was extremely acceptable (on sale @40% off) but, I would have been much happier if the rotten AU$ had gained ground. What I've saved in the sale has been expended on exchange rates!! GRRR!!!

    1. Thank you Safir, I think the colours suit her perfectly.

April Story sort of caught me by surprise, I didn't realise they had so many gorgeous girls with teeth! Could be quite dangerous for my purse!

Ishylia is very cute, I think you have made a good choice ordering her with the size 'A' bust.

    1. Thank you Lily, you are so kind. But I guess it's a little on the dark side so I shouldn't be surprised that you love it, should I? :)

I agree, the large boobs just didn't go with that pretty young face at all.

  3. Sibyl's dress is gorgeous and the colour matches her perfectly. I love the style and design.

Congratulations on the incoming doll. She looks lovely. I don't mind April Story dolls. I've never bought one though but their body aesthetics are really quite beautiful.

I hear you on the AUD. It's the main reason why I haven't been able to buy much lately. Everything I've looked at and liked has always added at least 100-200 in AUD to the USD price. It's really quite frustrating.

I miss the days, however brief they were, when the AUD was better than the USD. I bought a few of my dolls during that period. Ah ... the good ole days. Wonder if we'll see them again?

    1. Thank you Alasse. I think so too. I may have to do something similar for my Napi/Volks hybrid, I may even go steampunk!!

I only came across April Story by chance and am so pleased I did. Do you think she would make a nice steampunk sister for my Napi/Volks hybrid?

Oh me too, I'd be happy if it even got to 90c again, but I doubt if we'll see that happen unless the USA goes broke. :)

    2. Oooh Steampunk sounds interesting. I can't wait to see what you do there.

I think she would. I've always thought Napidoll and April Story aesthetics were complimentary to each other. Something about the style and features of the faces just seem to go well together.

Yeah, I can't imagine the US ever going broke.

    1. Hi Giac,
Thank you so much, but I guess with your love of period houses etc. I shouldn't be at all surprised that the dress would appeal to you. I have just come upon some wonderful silks in my stash which I had completely forgotten about, now I can't wait to use them. :)

I forget that the exchange rates must effect you in Canada too, but your shipping costs from the US must be a little less expensive though, so you do have a little advantage there.
      Big hugs,

  6. So cute! That dress is gorgeous, and the colour is really perfect for her.

I know how you feel about the exchange rates - I'm living in the US but still getting paid in CDN$, and with the exchange rates what they are right now, I'm not buying anything!
