Lazy Days and Daffodils

I have been feeling like I needed some R&R this week, so today hubby and I decided to take a drive through Gippsland to one of our favourite towns . . .  Yarragon. It has some lovely shops, amongst my favourites are Candleberry Country where you'll find a  vast array of pretty fabrics to tempt even the most discerning sewer and Carousel Cottage a lovely shop full of decorative items for the home. Needless to say, I made a small purchase from both of them. :)

We then lunched at Gippsland Food and Wine, where my sweet little Pippin (LF Pipi Girl ~ Tan Skin) became very curious about everything.

After lunch we drove down roads we hadn't travelled before and came across the Blyth Brothers farm . . . and what a spectacular sight to behold it was!

Row upon row of magnificent yellow daffodils and fragrant jonquils. It reminded me of William Wordsworth's poem "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud".

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Little did we realise that this beautiful farm in Ellinbank is Australia's largest daffodil growing business, family run and dating back three generations to 1947.

I'm afraid my Pippin is just a plain ol' sticky nose. :) Yes, it was a lovely break from sewing, thank you.

    1. Hi Giac!
We were lucky to have a break in the rotten weather we have been having, and the fields of daffodils looked like they went on forever.

I love the shot of Pippin running a hand along the sugar packets - you can really imagine the movement there. :)

  4. I love having days off like this. It's hard for the missus and I to do this sort of thing nowadays but I can still enjoy it vicariously while my three year old climbs all over me! LOL

    1. Thank you Alejandra. Yes i did make it, but it was a prototype and I need to adjust the pattern a little, before I will be happy with it.
Oh I can understand that feeling, there's is something quite lovely about daffodills, they always make me feel happy, perhaps it's their sunny colour.

    1. Hi grandmommy, I think it does us all good to have a little down time now and then, don't you? It was just as well we did it yesterday too, as it's pouring with rain today!
Ah yes, my little Pippin is fast becoming one of my favourites.

  7. Hi Sandy,
Spring must be coming to you all on the other side of the world. Enjoy the flowers, spring "green-ness" and warmth that is coming your way! Pippin is adorable. I love her fluffy white hair. :)

    1. Hi Farrah!
It is slowly arriving, little by little, and not fast enough for my liking. I am really impatient to see LOTS of sunshine, I love the warmer weather where I can get outside.
Pippin took a little while to sort out, but I knew this wig was her as soon as I put it on. I think it suits her character much better tht the carrot hair.
