I have added a couple more pieces to the diorama. I looked at all the wooden floors but wanted to add more bright colours to the room. So it was off to Spotlight yesterday, for a little poke around. There I found a red placemat, which looked like it would be perfect for the job I had in mind. When laid flat on the floor it looks like tiles.
I also cut the square mat that came with the set to a round, then added the edging. I had plenty of fabrics in my stash, so I made a little patchwork quilt as well.
Also needed something for the walls, so after a little internet browsing, I came across this circus train, which picks up the colours and makes a perfect frieze.
Just a window and some finishing touches will complete the room.
How cute! You have a really good eye for visualizing what would look nice in a mini room. I love the colors. She looks very cozy in her new bed and warm quilt. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Farrah, that's very kind of you. My little model will eventually need a slight makeover before she can call this room her home. :)

That quilt is so wonderful~! :D
ReplyDeleteThe walls look so cute, everything looks near perfect!
Thank you Irene, only a little more to add, but I doubt if I will ever call it perfect. I am picky, so I'm sure there will be continual changes after I am finished. :)

It's coming along quite nicely! And can I just say, I am in awe of your doll patchwork quilt. I've wanted to try and make one myself forever but I don't even understand the quilt basics so I've never done it but I love seeing them in doll size. I need to find out where to get small scale fabric from. And I haven't been to Spotlight in ages. I might need to poke my head in there to see what's new.
ReplyDeleteThe more I see of your diorama, the more excited I get to see how it will all come together.
Hi Alasse,
DeleteThanks. You should have a go, they are easy to make, providing you cut each square the same size. You'll find some small spots, stripes and florals amongst those pre cut fat quarters in Spotlight.
I'm very new to making dioramas, but I have found making this one lots of fun and very relaxing. Your turn next!! :)

This is s cute!! Loved the circus frieze, it do enhances all the colors!! The diorama is looking so good so far!
ReplyDeleteThanks Musume. There's something quite fun about a circus and it certainly works well with red and blue colour scheme. It gives of a happy vibe to this little room and that's what I wanted to achieve. :)

This little room is very very cute and has come together so nicely, I really like it a lot. The flooring was a great idea, I did something with cork...the dolls find it very warm on their bare feet ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt, it's really very nice. I would like to make a doll sized quilt one day. (I bought a book at the weekend!)
Now we just have to hope that this little girlie will keep it nice and tidy ;)

Oh thank you Sharon. Yes, I can see how a cork tile or placemat would work very well as flooring, never thought of that. :)
DeleteA quilting book? It is much easier to make a doll sized one than a human sized one and so much quicker too!
I don't know about that, my dolls tend to spread themselves around. (Just quietly, I think they take after me.)

Oh gosh I love how you made the little rug and quilt <3 I do wish I could make quilts as I love them so much.
ReplyDeleteHi Lucy,
DeleteQuilts are not hard to make, sometimes the thought of making one scares people, but if you just jump in and have a go, you will be so pleased you did.
Hugs.
