Almost Finished

Finally had some time today to complete the tiling in my dolly kitchen and Holly and Primrose couldn't wait for the new walls which I ordered recently, to have some photos taken. I was hoping to have the other double bench done too, but it was missing a back piece. Fortunately, the piece is being sent with the walls, so hopefully it will all be done this time next week.

Once I'd taken this photo I noticed the gap between the corner unit and the sink. I'm not sure what I can do about it though. I may try painting the new walls (ones without windows) white and see if that makes a difference, before re-cutting the tiles. The black & white papered wall shown here, will be replaced with a window wall and drapes.

Holly could also do with a little blush on her cheeks, she's looking a little pekid. Primrose does have a faint hint of rosiness, but if I'm going to blush Holly, I may as well do Primrose too.

Primrose is wearing rompers and cardigan which I made for another doll (can't remember which) but they fit her perfectly. Both girls shoes are slightly too big, but they'll do for now.

Anyone else working on any projects?

P.S. Michelle Bogart! Welcome to my blog, do you have a dolly blog of your own?

  1. I love your girls. They are so sweet looking. And that kitchen, wow, it looks amazing. How long has it taken to get to this point? My problem with building dioramas lately is the lack of space. My craft room is getting so crowded!

    1. Thanks Alasse, I'm quite taken with them myself. :) Too long, I received the kitchen pieces two Christmases ago, but actually putting together and painting a couple of weeks on and off. When I redid the studio I made sure I had a table to to set this room up on, it will change from time to time as I change walls etc. but it will always be set up on that table. I'm storing the walls and other bits underneath.

  2. Hello Xanadu! The kitchen looks very cute already, I love the color combination. Is that a miniature slow cooker on the counter? It looks very realistic, and so do the other appliances you have. Hope the walls arrive sooner than later.
I have some work from school again this week and the next one, so won't be able to work on anything until early April, but I was working on some swimwear for my dolls. I'll definitely share it on my blog once it's done.
Wish you a lovely rest of the week!

    1. Thanks MC, pink and grey is always a nice combination. Yes, the miniature cooker etc. are very lifelike, the toast actually comes out the toaster. They are all available online from AliExpress
Oh swimwear sound challenging, I can't wait to see what you have achieved.
You enjoy the rest of your week too.

  4. I lost all my childhood dolls and decided to try to replace them in the last few years. Unfortunately, I am an 80's child! So all of my dolls are expensive. As a result, I decided to just look around and see what is out there now. I have the Mini Maru twins Ash and Joy, three Las Amigas dolls, a Monst (I think its your Holly), mini Melody and Mary Ellen from American Girl (in memory of my Mom). I have a Mini Amigas (I gave the one I had to my cousin and need her back!) on the way and I found Noah mini pal on a UK doll site so he's on the way too. Believe it or not, as pricey as Maru is, they are still cheaper than trying to replace 80's dolls!

I am not sure how it started, but I began reading doll blogs to refresh my memories. I have read several from beginning to present and recently finished doing that with yours. Unfortunately, you have added to my wish list. But its okay, all the blogs do that. lol I suck at commenting, but I am reading and enjoying. I could not ignore a direct comment from you though! I love your sewing, my mother sewed a lot of my doll clothes when I was a kid.

    1. I understand how that is Michelle, many of the dolls become more expensive on the secondary market, but every now and then one comes across a bargain which makes the hunt so much fun. The only Maru doll I had was the beautiful Jamie, but I sold her some time back when I decided not to collect the Maru dolls. Las Amigas are among my favourites, they are a lovely size to hold and to dress, so are the Monst. The only AG dolls I have are about to leave the fold.

That's going to take a long time to complete reading all the dolly blogs, but once you've caught up you'll be so experienced you'll be able to start writing your own. I hope so, we'd love you to join us on a permanent basis. Thank you, I enjoy sewing and knitting, but it tends to be a winter thing for me. :)

  5. My apologies, I didn't even comment on your post! I love your kitchen. I always wanted to make a doll house and furnish it, so I enjoy seeing what other people do. Its not something I probably will ever do, so I will just enjoy yours.

    1. Haha! That's okay, it was just lovely to hear about your dolls. Oh me too, but I know it will never happen. This room box is the answer to my prayers and being 1:6 size it's a better size for my hands to work with. Being able to change walls means I can decorate new rooms whenever the urge strikes. :)

  6. Thanks Linda. The little accessories really add some realism to the diorama. I need to make a tea towel, a table cloth and some napkins. I thought I might have been able to use some of the tiny shop groceries, but they are not to scale and most are too big for these gals. I do have some great baking dishes though. :)
Oh that will be a big desk! I think space, or rather lack of it, is making us think outside the box and come up with more creative solutions.
You have me intrigued about your face-ups, are they going to look similar like blood related families do? I imagine that will be a difficult task.

    1. It has taken a little while to get it to this stage Dee, but I have enjoyed every minute. Me too, but it's not as easy to find the 1:6 size as it is the 1:12, but the hunt goes on. :)

  9. The kitchen is just as cute as the girls! I love the colors, both sweet and elegant. Surely meals prepared there will be fantastic! Primrose and Holly looks very content :).
Currently, I'm only working on a new place for Rainbow Highs. So much to do, so little time... Maybe on Easter I will be able to start something new, I'm planning to take a few days off. Maybe...

    1. Thank you Chiriann, I am happy with what I have achieved so far, but there is still one piece to finish painting.
A diorama? That will be cool for the RH's, and hopefully we shall see it soon. Time & space seem to be what we all crave more of. Enjoy your Easter break!
