Well I was going okay at reducing my dolls for a little while saying goodbye to two Wellie Wishers, one Fashion Friend, one Hearts 4 Hearts, a Holala doll and my little Berjuan Eva.
However, I couldn't resist these two very special Zwergnase dolls . . .
Abelone arrived 24th January, 2023. This German made phthalate-free vinyl doll is 50cm (19.7") tall and is referred to as a Junior doll.
Nili, who arrived 6th March, 2023, is a limited edition of 25 dolls worldwide and stands 65cm (25.6inches) tall, which is also the tallest doll I own.
She has a complete phthalate-free vinyl body, which is fully jointed so she can be posed in various positions. Her vinyl colour is cappuccino, she has beautiful olive green hand blown Laucha glass eyes and her face has been painted by her designer, Nicole Marschollek-Menzner.
AND three Gotz dolls . . .
Edda of Edinburgh Signature Edition by Elisabeth Lindner arrived 22nd January, 2023. She is my second Gotz Happy Kidz doll by this Artist.
While checking messages on MDBF to see if they had any news on Nili, I noticed this gal. The one Gotz face missing from my Happy Kidz collection. Laura is designed by Sissel Skille.
Needless to say, I immediately added her to my cart and she arrived on the 17th March, 2023.
Hannah Summertime was an 'Autumn Special' from GΓΆtz and she arrived 23rd March. I've shortened her name to Summer.
THEN there was the two Momoko dolls I purchased in Singapore in June while on holiday.
ALSO the six Monst dolls that arrived later in the year, which you have seen become the residents of my 1/6 scale doll rooms.
So in 2023 I really didn't do very well at reducing my doll collection at all!! Let's hope I can do better this year. After all, I have a doll house to decorate and that should occupy me for most of the year . . . I hope.
Still it's really good to be back reading & posting again. π
P.S. My second eye surgery went really well . . . thanks to all for your good wishes.
It is wonderful to see new additions to your collection, Nili might be my favourite from these girls. Don't tell the others. ;) When I sell a doll, I don't promise myself to not get any new dolls as the collections can be changing at times. ^-^ <3 I was thinking to not add more than 5 dolls in my collection this year and already bought two from Bimong from his last pre-order. Exited to meet them during spring.
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear about your second eye surgery <3 Hugs.
Hi Xaya!
DeleteIt's always nice to add dolls, however, when you get to be my age one thinks about culling the collection. (I don't want to leave all these dolls for my daughter to deal with when I'm gone.) In saying that, I still find it difficult to say no to a doll that pulls my heartstrings. π
I shall look forward to seeing your new Bimong dolls when they arrive.
Thank you, big hugs,
X
I am glad to read your surgery went well! And the ZwergNase dolls are really special. Nili is my favorite. I remember you wrote some time ago that you were looking for Zwergnase dolls, but I don't remember if these are the ones you wanted. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mia, this one was less complicated than the last, though I was expecting it to be more when my opthamologist told me I would be needing a different lens due to the scaring from when I had shingles in my eye. So relieved now I can see clearly again.
DeleteOh I love Nili, she is so beautiful IRL I cannot help picking her up. I would love to get another like her in this size, but they are so expensive. I'm not quite as enamoured with Abelone though, she looks different in her promos.
Big hugs,
X
I can imagine your relief! If you are not really happy with Abelone, maybe you can trader her for one you like better?
DeletePerhaps I will, but I'd like to keep her for now at least.
DeleteI'm so glad that the second surgery went well and that you're back to posting again, Sandi! The dolls are lovely - Nili's eyes are so soulful! To say "reduce" in talking about your collection only seems to set you up for limiting your possibilities. Maybe instead you should say that you "continue to progress toward curating your collection". That way, you are free to send dolls on for someone else to enjoy while still welcoming new ones but not necessarily at the same time. ππ
ReplyDeleteThank you Jodi. Either way, I shall be culling them, I just have far too many. I think I'm at a stage of wanting to be a little more selective on what type of dolls I'd like to have in my collection and to stop being so impulsive. In other words, I need to THINK before opening my wallet!! LOL!
DeleteBig hugs,
X
Interesting dolls. I limit my group of dolls. I'm happy with the good news and I wish you a lot of health.
ReplyDeleteThank you Magdalena.
DeleteWonderful dolls. It is interesting to sew clothes for such dollsπ
ReplyDeleteThanks Inesa. Yes it is, but I'm not in the mood for sewing right now. π
DeleteCongratulations on the second successful eye surgery. I think that we doll collectors/admirers have very little chance when it comes to trying to reduce our dolls. I also spent last year clearing out a lot of my dolls but for every three that went at least one other appeared!! All we can do is keep believing we are making some space because if we give up completely, we'll soon be over run! lol x
ReplyDeleteThanks Dee. Oh don't I know it, every year I try and fail. At least your numbers are going down albeit slowly. LOL! As I have no real grails waiting in the wings, I believe this year I might actually accomplish what I set out to do . . . fingers crossed. I have managed to cull my wardrobe though.
DeleteBig hugs,
X.
