After two years of debate with myself over my lovely Napidoll Rogebell head, I made the decision to part with her. I really wanted to finish my Steampunk girl, Verity Delamore-Larkin and complete her outfit, but every time I looked at Rogebell, and as hard as I tried to imagine her as Verity, her face just didn't fit the character. I am kind of sad because I really loved her sculpt. Unfortunately, she was a large head with an extremely young face and all my youngsters are tiny dolls.
Her sale however, has allowed me to purchase a head that will be perfect.

Of course there will be a long wait before she arrives, but I have waited this long so another few months shouldn't deter me at all. (Famous last words, I know I will be chaffing at the bit to get her.)

In the meantime I will be searching for just the right wig, I love the way this one has been pulled up, but my gal will be wearing a hat, so I will have to wait and see what eventuates.
Of course now I am not at all sure how the head will fit on the body I have on hand, so that may well be another challenge for me down the track. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever get her completed, but I am determined there will come a day when I can finally introduce my pièce de résistance to you all.
Congrats!! the new head is stunning!! and I love the name of your character, it sounds so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSometimes doll won't work for us no matter how pretty the sculpt and that's okay. One good thing about this hobby is that dolls don't get devalued as much with time so we can always try selling. If that works then we have funds for more dolls :D
I hope you get to show us Verity soon
Thanks Alejandra. She does have an air of elegance about her and I think she will look perfect in a Victorian/Steampunk dress, but she's a way off being finished yet. :)
DeleteYou are right, and depending on demand, some actually increase in value as was the case with the blank head I sold. This enabled me to afford a face-up with the new one.

Congrats on getting her!! I didn't knew about this sculpt and she is marvelous!
ReplyDeleteHope she does comes fast *sends good vibes*
Thanks Musume. I just checked the DZ waiting room on DoA and it's looking like 4-5 months. But hey, just ordering a head may make it quicker. :)

I can't wait to see what you do with this one! Dollzone really has some interesting and unique face sculpts, so I'm loving imagining how you're going to create your vision with this one. :)
ReplyDeleteHi JS, She is certainly going to be an interesting project, but a very long term one I'm afraid. Picture a gown of silk and crepe de chine, and an elegant tall hat, lots of brass accessorising and you may just hit the nail on the head. :)

She looks really interesting and I look forward to seeing her when she gets home. She has a lovely elegant look about her and yes that wig is great!

Hi Sharon,
DeleteI love this sculpt and also Riven, but Minas will have to do me, I don't think I am so patient to wait for two dolls from Dollzone. I do have a wig in mind, but I will need to do a little more research before I commit to it. :)

Wow congrats! I think this head is very charming too, and can't wait to see what you'll do with her :3
ReplyDeleteThanks Irene, I think we will all be waiting for quite a while before this one arrives. :)

Congrats on your new purchase! I love her beautiful lip sculpt. I can't wait to see what you come up with once she arrives. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Farrah,
DeleteI do too, and it's so bold . . . I love those deep cherry lips. :)

Amazing and congrats! Look forward to see her, when she arrives! And those cherry lips are really nice!
ReplyDeleteThank you Niina. :)

Oh that sculpt looks very lovely, unique and sassy. I hope the wait isn't too long for you! Dollzone always have a tendancy to be backlogged. Although they do seem to release new sculpts a lot too.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to get your Verity completed one day. Is she MSD or SD?
Hi Alasse,
DeleteI think she has the right face for a Steampunk girl. I know that it will be a long wait for DollZone but this time I am prepared for it. :)
She may be either, as the Volks SD13 body that I originally planned for this girl is too thick in the neck. So I will wait to see how she looks on one of my Luts KID bodies before making a final decision on her body.
