Holiday Snaps

We spent 2 days in Port Fairy, which is a coastal town in south-western Victoria, Australia. It has a rich history and 50 of it's buildings are protected by the National Trust of Australia. The bay was named by the crew of the whaler The Fairy in 1828.

We visited Mount Eccles, an inactive volcano and the Gunditjmara name for the mountain is Budj Bim meaning High Head.

We then went on to Robe, a town and fishing port located on the Limestone Coast of South Australia.

The town and surroundings has a distinctive combination of historical buildings, ocean, fishing fleets, lakes and dense bush.

We found a great café where we had brunch each morning of our 5 day stay.

I only had this once, but it was yummy and was enough to last me to dinner time. :)

The last 2 days was to be in Portland, but after getting to our destination, one day stay was enough! So we came home a day early and forfeited our accommodation expenses.

Took a couple of shots of my IpleHouse KID Lonette (Lonnie) when we first arrived, but she stayed in her bag after that.

In a way it was good to have a break from dolls, for a little while at least.

    1. Thank you Irene, it was an amazing trip. I drove (1886 kilometres) and I slept like a baby for the first time in 9 days when we arrived home. :)

    1. Hi Giac,
Long time no see! I'm pleased you enjoyed the photos. Yes, the weather was lovely, except for one day when the wind was really cold coming off the sea.

    1. Oh yes Sharon the food at the Union Café in Robe was so good we couldn't help but visit every morning. I only took one, and have added a couple to the post for you to see. Just was too busy doing other stuff and I was feeling rather lazy about pulling her out of her bag.

    2. For a minute there I thought "I must be going mad, I didn't see those here before!" and then read your reply! Thank you for adding them, she's a real sweetie and looks like she enjoyed having a bit of fresh air and time out of the bag! ;)

    3. No you're not going mad Sharon. I don't know why I didn't add them in the first place. If we'd flown, I could have blamed it on jet lag. LOL!

  5. Wow, it all looks so lovely. I always love how blue the ocean looks along the coast. And I have actually heard of Robe so that was a surprise to me! I have no idea where but I remember the name. Everything looks so lovely and green. How was the weather there?

That breakfast looks yum. Dad does his Sunday breakfast like that a lot. Now I'm hungry!

    1. Hi Alasse,
If you ever get the chance to go to Robe, I can definitely recommend "pebbles@robe", it was a very clean house with two bedrooms and decorated in a beautiful coastal theme throughout. Robe is on the coast about 1.5 hours drive from Mount Gambier (about 9 hours from Melbourne).

Yeah, well now you understand why I am chubby! LOL!
