For my Pippi, I purchased an Australian Girl (Matilda) doll. I had seen a few of these dolls online, but never actually seen one "in the flesh" before and I was very pleased with her when she arrived.
Her vinyl is smooth and an attractive colour. I've never been keen on fabric stuffed bodies, however, her firmly stuffed fabric torso only extends from just under the bustline to her crotch. Her limbs have an acceptable degree of movement and her head can be rotated in several directions which is critical when photographing a doll.
She has a very pleasant face with a lovely smile. Her shoulder length hair is curly and reasonably soft to touch. I like her big green eyes and those little teeth are perfect . . . not too large or intrusive.
Lashes are a soft, but I would like them better if they were more shapely. She can sleep on her back and she has body blushing in the right places.
She has a little gap in her toes, so she can wear thongs (flip flops) on her feet.
The fingers on her hands are quite nice, not too pudgy with beautifully shaped fingernails. They are partially curved, so she can hold things, like a ball or perhaps a teddy bear.
Overall, I think she was the right choice for my Pippi. What do you think?
She looks very sweet and her cute smile will make her a great Pippi. The blushing on her collarbone is a bit weird. Makes me think of someone being strangled. Maybe that's a sign I'm weird though.
ReplyDeleteI think she will be Rachael. Now that you have pointed it out, that blushing does look a bit weird there, but it will most probably be covered by her clothing, so I'm not too worried about it.

She'll make a great Pippi! i'm surprised to see she even has body blushing, never thought those dolls had any. I really like the way her knees are for some reason, I can't say that's a feature one would often pay attention to.
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect the blushing on this doll Alejandra, but I am happy with it. Those dimpled knees are a bit like my own, not too bony either. :) I've never thought much about knees, but these are kinda cute . . . on her at least. LOL!

ReplyDeleteThanks Sam. X
DeleteCongrats on new doll. She is so cute. I think she will be great Pippi with this cheerfull face. Can't wait to see her final look :)
ReplyDeleteThank you BB, the face does seem to suit Pippi's personality. I'm still working on it and hopefully I'll have her finished soon.

I agree! She will be great!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kamelia. X
DeleteOh she will make a great Pipi. I love that shade of red and her face is rather lovely. I adore the fact her eyes close when she lays down and the detailing on those hands.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alasse. I am more than pleased with this doll, she's the only vinyl doll this size that I have with sleeping eyes.

Yes I agree, she looks a very good choice to me. I'm like you and don't like the fabric bodies, but this style is great because she can still even wear a swimsuit and the cloth body won't show. I also like her little teeth and pretty smile. I've not got an Australian doll but they remind me a lot of the Journey Girls from Toys R Us, which I have several of.
ReplyDeleteShe is going to make a very sweet Pippi :) xx
I too like that she can wear low cut necklines and that the fabric doesn't show. She would have been a disappointment if she was like other soft bodied dolls. Do the Journey Girls have similar bodies Sharon? I've probably seen some (perhaps yours) but cannot remember if I have seen one naked. :)
DeleteI think she will too.
Big Hugs,

Such an adorable doll and she well be a great Pippi!
ReplyDeleteI have not been so keen on those fabric-torsos, but this doll seems to have a firm body and she can stand well!
Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs!
Thanks Niina. It's those fabric dolls where you can see the fabric when they are dressed that creep me out...and yes she is quite firmly stuffed. :)
