"Life is full of choices! Having stepped into a mysterious mirror portal, her reflection is caught between two worlds and she must decide to which reality she belongs. Should she enter the hurly-burly of Victorian London street life that feels so familiar to her, and yet so distant? Or perhaps the eerie neglected buildings, which are all that remain of a palace where once she was a princess." ~ Josaphine Wall
I can so relate to this painting . . . I often feel as though I am caught between a rock and a hard place. Like this week, wanting to work on my Nutcracker project on one hand, and catch up with blogging and friends on the other.
However, having so much to do at home and knowing full well that taking on five dolls at once will need a lot of concentration and considerable effort, I decided to put the Nutcracker project on the back burner until after Christmas (hopefully I'll get them all finished before the following one).
That leaves me free to complete as many of the tasks I really feel like doing, while I'm in the mood to do them (ones that are simple and quick). :)

Gorgeous painting, I also loved the text that goes with it. We've all feel the same at one point or another, but I'm glad you decided to prioritize in a way that leaves you more at peace. Thanks for the well wishes, I hope your weekend is great too. hugs~
ReplyDeleteHi Alejandra! I love Josaphine Wall's paintings, they are created with so much imagination and there's always lots to see in her paintings too, you just have to study them for a little while. :) You can check her art out here: https://josephinewall.co.uk/ I'm sure you'll enjoy it. :)
DeleteOh I will, Christmas shopping with my daughter today.
Big Hugs,

You find the most beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteHave you thought of working on the Nutcraker project whenever you feel in the mood to and not put pressure on yourself to finish them all at once? Take your time with them and pick them up when you want to? It might help to relieve the pressure of trying to finish everything quickly?
I find I work better like this. I have a project I have been working on since August this year and it's a simple thing, not as intense as what you're going to take on but I haven't felt the pressure to finish it by a certain time and it's been working well for me. Takes the pressure off and makes it enjoyable to work on when I do want to work on it.
If I put too much pressure on myself with deadlines on my projects, I find I get frustrated with it and quit ahead of time.
All I can say about Christmas, Ack Christmas again? Honestly I am so not prepared this year. Not like last year.
Thank you Alasse. Yes, that's what I'm going to do now. Initially I thought it would be nice to finish them so I had them on display at Christmas, but I know what December is like for us and realised I'd be pushing it to get them done in time, or stuff them up because I was rushing.
DeleteMy daughter and I finished all our present shopping today, thank heavens we got it out of the way early, now we don't have to contend with the crowds. :) Christmas tree goes up this week along with the lights.

Lovely painting, with kind-a christmasy feeling. I would definitely choose the second option ;).
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to complete at least one set of clothes for my BJD till Christmas, for some pictures with the Christmas tree... Wish me luck ;).
Have great weekend too!
Hi Chiriann and welcome to my blog, it's always lovely to hear from new visitors. :) I'm pleased you enjoyed the painting, Jo's art is fascinating.
DeleteOh I did. I hope you will share photos of your BJD clothes, I'd love to see them when they are finished . . . good luck!
Big hugs,

Where on earth do you find all your nice quotes and artwork! I wouldn't know where to start :)
ReplyDeleteI think you're right to leave this big project for another time, early December is not the time to be starting as you'll only get yourself completely stressed out over it, there's just far too much going on this month to really concentrate. I hope you get the little things done instead, they'll help you feel that you've achieved something...because you will have LOL!
I thought about making Christmas dresses for some of my girls....never happened, won't happen now. Maybe next year.
Have a lovely week ahead xxx big hugs xxx
Ah I have been a fan of Jo's work for years Sharon (the quote is her). I think the first time I saw her art was on a jigsaw puzzle, many years ago. :)
DeleteYou are so right, and I feel much better for making the decision to leave it for now.
Thanks for the good wishes, I have had a lovely week. :)

This painting is so beautiful... I love it. And the I love the text you added with it. I really fell the same sometime.
ReplyDeleteI tried to start some work now as my hand is almost healed. And everything goes wrong way... So I can understand how you feel exactly.
I am really pleased you enjoyed it Joanna. I think we all feel like that at some time or other.
DeleteSo glad to hear you hand is on the mend, it means you can sew again soon. :)
Big hugs,

Wonderful text and picture. Sometimes it can be rough with all the project one want to do. I know it myself. Decided to focus on one at a time (not going so well, though) and finishing it. But there is always tomorrow. :) Hope that you can start with the project soon and feel energized by it.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Thank you Niina! I like that you can think that. :) I used to, but the older I get, the less I feel like leaving things until tomorrow . . . just in case there isn't one.
