Midweek Update

As you already know, Nigel North was on his way on 18th April. Shipping was progressing reasonably well until April 21st when he departed O'Hare International, Chicago USA at 6.09 am and I haven't heard a word from USPS since.

I think my poor boy is lost in the mail, as he hasn't touched down in Australia yet and I am really feeling pretty p****d off with USPS. Don't know why I bothered to pay for Priority Post!! Even taking the Easter break into consideration, he should have been here by now. My sender is checking on him for me, but I don't know how long it will take before I hear anything positive.

Anyway on to brighter things, here is today's photo of the fireplace. It looks really cool IRL, but the camera always show up the areas that need more attention, so I still have some minor touch ups to do.

And here's a sneak peek at things to come. :)

Can you guess what I have planned?

Until next time, have a happy dolly week!
Big hugs,
X

EDIT: After not hearing anything from my sender, I lodged a missing parcel enquiry with Australia Post at 5.20 pm Wednesday and finally, this morning when I checked my Australia Post tracking, it said Item processed at facility (meaning rotten Customs) Sydney NSW Thurs 2 May at 9.31 am.

  1. I hope your boy will arrive soon! I hate when such things happen... I'm currently waiting for another nendoroid, buuut we have national holidays here on 1 & 3 May so it may take a while...
And just as I thought, the fireplace looks absolutely stunning! I sure your diorama will be even more cosy now :)

    1. Oh me too Chiriann, I really hope he isn't lost because there isn't another one in stock. It's bad enough waiting under normal circumstances, but when there are holidays too it makes waiting really painful. I hope your nendoroid arrives soon.

Thank you. :) It still needs a little touch up, but I'm happy with it.

  2. Hopefully he's sitting in customs or something. I've had packages sit in customs for a month! And I've had packages that Australia Post took longer to get to me from Melbourne Airport than it took to get them halfway around the world.
    Your fireplace is looking fantastic.

    1. I would have thought that Rachael had it shown arrival in Australia on either USPS or Austpost tracking, but it hasn't. Besides I've never had a hold up with customs here in Melbourne, only when things come via Sydney. Now I must admit I have had similar delays with local post going half way round the state when I've sent something to the next suburb.

      Thanks I'm happy with it.

    2. Finally...wouldn't you know it, after I lodged a missing parcel late yesterday, it has finally shown up just now that he's been processed through Sydney!!

  3. Online trackers don't work too well for me, at least internationally. They're good at letting me know when an item has left the other country, and arrived here in the US, but the package usually ends up at my door before the tracker says it should be.

    1. I don't usually have this problem Barb, but I guess there's a lot of places a parcel could be delayed on it's travels. At least now I know my boy is on the move again now. :)

  4. I just saw your Edit note but I was just going to tell you not to worry yet as I had an EMS parcel sit in customs for two weeks (Sydney customs) before it was released. I've found sometimes Sydney customs can be fast but other times they can be really slow. My last few parcels that have gone through there have been held for two weeks.

That fireplace is looking amazing. The touch of the logs and the blackened bit behind the logs is such a great detail too. And I'm thinking you're making another diorama or curtains!

    1. Funny, when things come to Melbourne, they breeze through, yet Sydney is so slow at processing.

Thanks Alasse. Well it'd not curtains. :)

  6. I hope your boy won't be lost and will come to you soon. Keep my fingers crossed.
    The fireplace looks great.
And I like the blue colours you showed to us. But I have no idea what it will be... :)

    1. Thanks Joanna, he arrived today 7th May. The fireplace turned out okay and I am pleased you think it looks great. :)
Oh you will just have to wait and see, it will be worth it I think.

  7. I'm sorry to hear about the problems with your doll but hope that by now he has arrived home safely. It's 'funny' how a enquiry often makes them 'turn up' isn't it? I have had that happen it the past too....sort of like they've had a reminder to pull their bloody finger out and move the parcel on!
I love the fireplace, it looks so realistic now that you've added those finishing touches, I can feel the heat from here ;)

    1. Yes, he finally arrived in the end Sharon, and you're right, sometimes those working in customs need a bit of a kick up the butt!
Now to get the room and other bits finished...I've been sidetracked a bit this week, I've been listing a few things on eBay to give me more space in the doll room. :)

  8. Hello and I really do hope that your doll arrives soon! It is both sad and annoying when things like this happen!
Love the fireplace and the plant! You are doing great things for your dollies!
    Hugs!
