Another Little Darling

Browsing eBay this afternoon, I found this Little Darling listing just about ready to expire without a bid, so I placed one and won. I have no idea what these UFDC Convention dolls sold for back in 2014, so I'm curious to find out if I have spent too much, or have been lucky enough to have found myself a nice little bargain.

I doubt very much if this Ana (Little Darling #2) lookalike was hand painted by any reputable artist and assume most Convention dolls would be mass produced, but she's very pretty and will make a great friend for my Cassandra (Little Darling #1).

Nevertheless she comes complete with all accessories and should be arriving very soon, as she only has to travel from Queensland. There's a bonus there, low shipping costs! I shall post more photos when she arrives.

P.S. I was correct in my thinking, the Convention dolls are factory painted and touched up by The Doll Dreamers' Guild Artists.

  1. If it helps, the most recent UFDC little darling is still for sale on their website for $425 usd but I always thought the UFDC Little Darlings were cheaper than that.

    1. Thanks Rachael but I did see that one. Also with further research I found that the Convention dolls are usually around US$300 plus the Convention Registration fee of US$175, so when you add shipping on top and convert it to Aussie dollars, I'm happy with what I paid. Also I didn't have a long waiting time for an artist to paint her (2 years for my previous LD) which drove me crazy.

  2. She's definitely cute, Xanadu, but she's a Little Darling, so that's kind of a given. ;) I'm interested to see what is in the bag on her left side. It looks like jewelry? If you find out any information about her origin (besides being a UFDC doll), let us know! I think it's hard to find any info for these types of convention dolls.

    1. Thanks Barb and she's a #2 which I didn't have. She has her shoes, hair accessories and her necklace in the bags. I have added a PS on the bottom of the post, so the touching up could be done by any of the Guild artists.

  3. There's a Youtube channel called "Muñecas, Poupees, and Dolls", and she talks about convention pricing of little darlings in one of her videos. If you are interested I'll try to find it for you. She does look very pretty, even if the artist who painted her is not one of the well known artists. Congrats on winning her!

    1. I think that's probably the one I found Mia, but thank you! I kept on researching even after I posted, I cannot stand having unanswered questions about a doll in my collection, it drives me nuts. I'm really keen to see her IRL now, whoever would have thought I'd find a LD so close to home. YAY!!

  5. Thank you Linda, I'm really looking forward to her arrival. Yes, I don't think dolls are that much different to humans in that respect. However, you know I don't like even numbers so this will be a good year to look for a #3, not that I really expect to find one, but you never know unless you try. LOL!
Yes, not knowing has always bugged me, even if I find I have overspent on a doll, I'd rather know than not.:)

  8. She's lovely Sandi. I had one which I rewigged and enhanced a little. I bought mine direct from the UFDC website when they first were released and I think she cost me about $375 plus postage from the US. I liked her, she was exactly like the artist ones except her eyes weren't handpainted. The only thing I found was that when I removed her wig there was a lot of staining on her head, so just beware of this. But it'll be hidden under the wig anyway. Big hugs xx

    1. Thank you Sharon. I shall probably keep her hair depending on what it actually looks like when she arrives, but will redress her in something pretty. I may have paid a little over what she's worth, but I did receive a small refund on the postage which was a nice surprise, but I am happy I bought her.
I think all black wigs tend to stain, like black or red clothes, and as you say it's under the wig, so it's not a problem for me.

  10. Oooh, a Little Darling indeed! I absolutely love her face and hair (there seems to be really few dolls with such dark, raven hair!). I hope she will arrive soon and you will be really happy with her :)!

She arrived on Monday and has already settled in. I haven't decided whether she will keep her hair, but have already re-dressed her and shall post photos soon.
