On the 20th September we took our little Coco to our local vet, to have what we thought was a routine dental check up as he had a very bad case of halitosis. His bad breath turned out to be an oral melanoma which had developed on his upper palate. Neither I or hubby had ever heard of such a thing so it took us by complete surprise.
After visits to two different vet oncology specialists, Coco was booked in this morning for a CT scan. This was to be followed up with Radiotherapy. However, the CT scan revealed much more than we expected; it had progressed to his brain and lungs, so we decided it was best not to wake him.
He was a rescue dog who arrived to us as a "biter" but after me receiving several nips and him a lot of love from us, he settled down to be a wonderful companion to us both. He made us laugh so much with his funny peculiar antics and smoochy ways ... we are going to miss him terribly.
This is the last photo I took of him a few days ago (having cuddles with dad) and to look at him you wouldn't know he was suffering, he was such a brave little tyke.
Sorry for the loss of your baby Coco. He was such a handsome pup and I'm sure he was very well loved.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs!
I am so sorry to hear this. It is especially sad when we lose a fur family member but it sounds like it was the best for Coco.
ReplyDeleteHe had some wonderful years with you both after a rocky start by the sounds of it. Sending you big hugs at this sad time. xxx
Sandi I am so sad to hear that you had to let Coco go over the rainbow bridge. I know how dis-heartning loosing one of our beloved fur babies can be. Just keep ahold of your fond memories and take solace in the fact that he had a loving family and a good life.
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs,
Dorian
I am so very, very sorry for your loss... He was so brave to the end, even though he was suffering. It's so hard to find words of consolation in such moment - I can only send you the warmest hugs I can, because I know all to well how you must feel right now. It's almost a year ago that I lost my Vincent.
ReplyDeleteAt least you know, that Coco is free from the pain...
I'm so sorry about your doggie, Xanadu. We had a cat many years back who developed cancer in his mouth. This year, we've lost both of our bunnies, so I sympathize with losing a beloved pet.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so sorry! I am sure he had a wonderful life with you.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences, Sandi 🙏 I'm so very sorry for your loss, is very hard to take that decision and hardest when it's so sudden. Coco has had a nice life by your side and has been loved. RIP little sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs 🤗❤
I'm so sorry for your loss. He had a wonderful life with you. Biggest hugs I can give. <3
ReplyDeleteHi Xanadu
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry for your loss.
I send you a hug and a very strong kiss
I'm so sorry to read this! I know how hard it is to let a well loved dog go. My first dachshund also had a tumor starting in his nose and progressing into his brain. It was diagnosed when it was already too late. This was eight years ago, but I still miss him.
ReplyDeleteFeel hugged!!!
I am so sorry for your loss!
ReplyDeleteFurbabies are a big part of the family!
Big hugs! <3
