... and I'd like to send a special thank you to Linda, Dee, Quinley, RM, Chiriann, Maribel, Xaya, Barb, Dorian, Niina, MC, Mia, Uschi and Alasse for your very kind New Year wishes.
Things have been very busy on the home front since we decided to make the most of summer and the salad come BBQ season to renovate our kitchen. Hubby has been extremely busy coping with all the hard to do stuff, while I have been busy working as his TA (tradesman's assistant) and managing the order & finance department.
There was a lot to do, as we wanted to close off the wall to the former dining room (now studio) and turn my galley kitchen into an L shape with an island. This meant redoing the floors as well. I have taken a few before and in progress photos, here's one, but I'll wait until I can show you the finished kitchen before sharing them all.
Looking through the wall into the kitchen . . . gas heater & doorway removed, along with all the previous kitchen cupboards etc.
The studio is also getting a makeover, so I shan't be on the old 'puter for a little while yet, but like McArthur ... I shall return!
I hope you are all keeping yourselves safe and healthy. I shall try to catch up with your blogs soon.
That sounds like a lot of work. But it's always fun to create a new space, isn't it? I hope you can enjoy your new kitchen and get some rest :).
ReplyDeleteYes, Mia and that's why it's taking so long. Not all the cabinets were available to be delivered in one go and the hiccups we faced before finalising benches was a bummer, but we're getting there though. :)
DeleteBig hugs,
X
Hi Xanadu! I'm happy to see that you're OK. To be fair, when you announced that you were taking a break, I thought it might be due to some medical reason, like a surgery, but I'm glad to see it's for something else. I know that renovations take a lot of work and it can drain you mentaly. I did some renovations in my current house right before we moved in and I can just say that I really went through it.
ReplyDeleteHope the renovation is going smoothly and that we can see you back very soon.
Thanks MC, I'm sorry if I worried you. Things are finally coming together now, but there is still work to be done.
DeleteBig hugs,
X
Hello and I have been wondering, but you have been busy with the renovation, both fun and time consuming. Good that you are doing well. Hope that the results will be great! :) Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that you're doing well. :) I hope you have a nice break, and you're welcome. :)

I have to admit, I also, like MC, was a little worried about your health, but I figured you just needed a break. I've never had to deal with a kitchen remodel, but it sounds like the worst kind of remodel one can do, considering dealing with all the cabinets, the water sources, etc. Not to mention you have to keep eating somehow! Hope you are on the downward slope of this project.
ReplyDeleteHola Xanadu veo que tienes mucho trabajo por delante en casa, vuelve por aquí cuando quieras, te estaremos esperando.
ReplyDeleteBesos
Ooooh I could do with a new kitchen, too - but there are other things more important, sadly.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the pics of the finished project!
It's so good to hear from you again! Good luck with the renovation, if everything will go well, we will start one here too, in March. Hope you new kitchen will look just like in your dreams and I can't wait to see the photos!
ReplyDeleteStay healthy! Lots of hugs!!
No wonder you were so busy. But we are waiting for your come back. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I Love seeing peoples homes in before and after photos. I hope it's all going along well and you'll soon be back here and sharing photos of all the work you have done.
ReplyDeleteLovely to hear from you Xanadu. <3 Exiting to have renovation at home and I'm sure it was worth it when finished. ^__^ I haven't been active in my blog for longest time. I do enjoy reading even if I don't comment. Hugs <3
