Some Days

I don't much feel like posting, however, today I'm in two minds. Firstly, I'd like to thank my readers for their lovely comments on my Singapore holiday photos. I am so pleased you all enjoyed them.

As most of you know, I have another blog called The White Panther Jazz Club and that I have been working on a diorama so I can photograph the story with my Integrity Toy dolls. The story includes two males, both are jazz musicians, but I only had one doll to play the part and he needed some minor adjustments as seen here.

To cut a long story short, I ordered another male doll from the USA on the 3rd July, records show it was despatched via USPS and departed LA on the 10th July. According to Australia Post it hasn't arrived in Australia, fortunately it was insured so a refund will eventually be given to the sender, but they wanted me to wait indefinitely before replacing it or refunding me. Which I, as a former business owner myself, would not have done. I think it's a mistake to let customers wait without providing a time when they can expect a resolution, so I've asked for a refund which is now in the hands of PayPal.

In the meantime, I managed to find the same doll on eBay (in Australia I might add and less expensive too) so I have ordered him and he should arrive soon.

Now if I could only see to make clothes for all my dolls I would be over the moon, and hopefully that shouldn't be too far away from happening. Cataract surgery is next on my agenda!

I do hope you are all doing well and enjoying your northern hemisphere summer, I am looking forward to seeing ours arrive so I can enjoy the outdoors again.

P.S. Thursday, 10th August: PayPal have given me a refund.

  3. Sometimes annoyances like missing parcels end up to be the better solution. Congrats on finding this handsome guy on ebay!

    1. Yes, in this case it definitely was Mia. I was really lucky to find him already in Australia, not only was he discounted, I didn't have that very expensive international shipping to pay for either. What's good too is he is NRFB. :)

  4. Oh what our online shopping and postal systems have become over the past five years! It has really curtailed my shopping, I can tell you that! So many sellers have no appreciation for their customers and we are put in positions of having to fight for what's right. I am glad all is ending well for you in this situation, and I am glad I am learning to either make a lot of things myself or live without them.

    1. There are occasions when I wish it had curtailed mine too Jodi, but I do enjoy shopping on line most of the time. I may have been more understanding had I not purchased several dolls from them before. Sometimes I wonder what happened to ethic of "the customer is always right"?

  5. It's great to hear about your refund! Hopefuly your boy will arrive soon, he looks fantastic on the photo. Great thing, that you found him in Australia.
Summer suddenly became hot here, but it's almost the end of holidays, so I don't think it will last long. Autumn is almost at our doors now ^^.
All the best with your surgery!

    1. He's on his way and moving quite quickly through the postal system, so he will arrive any day now Chiriann. The patterned jackets belonging to him and Miles don't quite fit the period but I'm considering either dying or replacing them.
It's still quite cold here even though it's Spring, hopefully we will see more sun than rain in the coming weeks.
Thank you, I still don't have a date, hopefully I won't have to wait long.
      😘

    1. Thanks Musume. They have been very quick lately, which is nice to see. They were even quick getting back to me when I inquired after the lost parcel. 😊

  7. My mom had cataract surgery a few years back. If it was the same thing, it went really quickly and easily. What scared me was that she had almost no vision in one eye before the surgery, and she was still driving at the time. I hope your new jazz musician shows up soon.

    1. I'm in the same boat as your mom Barb, though I don't drive far these days, most of the time hubby does the driving. I see the eye specialist on Thursday to set a date for the surgery.
My jazz musician (#2) arrived last Thursday, but the first one I ordered is still being sought by USPS, so I'm glad I got my money back when I did. :)
      Big hugs,

  8. Hi Xanadu! Good luck with your eye surgery! At least 3 of my grandparents had that surgery back in the day and, to what I recall, it's a very simple surgery with not many complications, if any at all. I'm late to the party, but I'm glad to read that you got your refund.

    1. Thanks MC. Everyone keeps telling me that, but I'm still a little nervous. Oh me too, I checked today and USPS still have no updates, so heavens only knows when they will reimburse the seller...shipping companies really suck!
