It's been so slow around the blogosphere, I've begun to wonder if it's finally reached its peak and is coming to an end. All the regular posters seem to be in hibernation or have just stopped posting completely. It's not good for me to be left up to my own devices . . . I buy far too many dolls!
I mean aside from Paula and Frieda who I pre ordered some time back, which are now on their way to me as I write, along with Gloria, and of course Lucy who has already arrived . . . I've now gone an ordered a ResinSoul Mei in Sky Blue resin.
You may be asking "why blue?" Well I have had this idea of making her into a similar version of the Na'vi from the movie Avatar. I don't really want to make her an identical copy of any of those particular characters, but rather a creature from my own imagination where I can build a story around. You have to admit, Mei has a beautiful face and I have seen what some of the doll artists have done with her, they are amazing (just Google her). I have seen her in white, normal, tan and even green resin, but not blue, so she's going to be an interesting project to work on.
If she turns out just the way I imagine her to be, I may even add either a male partner and/or a small child somewhere down the track.
I've contemplated Song and Mai for the father, and thought maybe Bei girl or Bao boy would make great children.
Well that's it for today, I'm off to have a cuppa! Hopefully I won't continue talking to myself.
I like ResinSoul dolls too. The blue ones are particularly pretty. Can't wait to see her!
ReplyDeleteDo you have any to show me RM, I always enjoy seeing all your dolls. I can't wait either, but unfortunately I'll have to . . . patience isn't one of my virtues! 😂

Hello and no worries! You are not talking to yourself! :D I am here and even if it has been silent, mostly because of all my studies and then the paper work after my dads passing. But I have been slowly taking my steps back to the doll world. Bought some new clothes for one of my Barbies and then I bought a new doll. One of Mr Tonner's cute 16 inch ones, on second hand - will blog about this when she arrives. Had my eyes on a Fairyland Minifee Layla (Medusa) in a different color, but those went fast. Wanted it in elf gray, because it would have been fun.
ReplyDeleteI have a ResinSoul Fei, and I really do love the sculpt and the doll. Fun to have in another color - and a great idea to make a project out of it. I have seen the movie Avatar and it was amazing. Hope she turns out to be as you want it!
Big Hugs!
Oh thank heavens! It's so nice to see you here again Niina and I shall be looking out for your next post. Robert's dolls are always beautiful and it doesn't matter which of his collections they are from. I have a few different ones myself. It's funny you should be mentioning Minifee, I have been thinking my one and only needs a sibling or two, but she can wait for a while.
DeleteI had never bought one before, but while I was on DOA I saw a few and that enticed me to look at their website and I was surprised how inexpensive they were compared to a lot of the Korean BJD's . The fact that Sun will make them in different colours for you and even do mods like putting elf ears on dolls with normal ears is a real bonus. I loved the movie too, did you see the second one (The Way of Water)? There's so much inspiration to be found in both of them.
Big hugs,

Thank you, nice to be back! If all goes well, the doll will arrive tomorrow and I can pick it up. There were a couple of sellers on the Swedish version of eBay (called Tradera) that had some of these amazing dolls from Robert Tonner and I had some difficulties to pick which one. But one stayed in my mind and I just had to. She has a very long name - Tweedle De De, will do at this point.😅 Some Alice in Wonderland inspiration. The black-white-red colors and her face just made me fall.❤️
DeleteResinSoul dolls are great in that way. I have just Fei, but would love another one. Maybe in another color. Have not seen the second Avatar movie, yet, but will soon.
Big Hugs!
I have seen her Niina, she's a lovely doll and I'm sure you will enjoy her when she arrives. Her black hair with the red streaks is certainly an interesting feature.
DeleteThe second movie is well worth seeing and it introduces another Avatar clan the Metkayina. I won't tell you anymore, just go see it for yourself! 😀

I'm around too, more or less. Hopefully soon more, because I'm on medication for my ADHD, which seems to be helping my executive function, aka buckling down and getting things done. I like the aesthetics of resin dolls, but their care seems overwhelming to me. It's fun seeing what others do, and I'm quite contented with that.
ReplyDeleteI too, hope soon, Barb. 😊 I may sound peculiar to you, but I don't see them as needing any extra care, other than to keep them out of the sun, which you probably do anyway with your other dolls. Perhaps it's the need for restringing when they get older that's putting you off??? You know once you have restrung the first one, it doesn't seem as scary.

I've also heard resin dolls can be kind of fragile and need to be treated with care so that they do not break. Then there's the sanding and the yellowing, at least that I've heard about. I do admit restringing sounds a bit daunting, but I've never tried. I do have some strung dolls that might need restringing at some point, so who knows? I might just cheat and have someone else do it, though. ;)
DeleteThat could be a problem if you drop them, or if you allow a child to play with them, I do redress mine and photograph them, and I have never had that problem Barb. Sanding is usually done before they ship and I haven't had any noticeable seam lines on any of the ones I've purchased. I do believe that tan dolls may show colour discrepancies when seam lines are sanded, and once again I haven't had that problem . . . maybe I've just been lucky. Yellowing will happen with age, but as long as you don't leave them in the sun, it takes a long time before this happens. Some of my Puki Fees are over ten years old and the difference between them and the newer additions, is very slight, so slight it doesn't show up in photos.
DeleteDon't let the negative nellies put you off purchasing one, they are well worth it, just don't buy a recast and you should be fine. 😘
Well, if I see a resin doll that "speaks" to me, I will have to consider one, Xanadu. Although I have had a few dolls take a nose dive during photography. :(
DeleteIf you can find one on the secondary market that's not too expensive, that might be the way to go Barb. Then you'll be able to make a decision as to whether you want to add more BJD's to your collection or not. Whatever you choose to do, I wish you luck and hopefully many hours of dolly fun. 🥰
DeleteGreat doll. I don't often read blogs or make posts myself, but I read all of yours. I'm here, albeit infrequently. Yes, I noticed that my blog doesn't get many visitors, which was demotivating, so I started exploring other social media platforms. However, from time to time, I still visit my blog and others. It's become a sort of tradition🙂
ReplyDeleteThank you Inesa. I think it takes time to build a following and not everyone wants to read, they seem to just like looking at pictures, a sign of the times I'm afraid. I really enjoy your blog and like being able to "talk" with you and others that read my blog, so don't give up on yours. 😘 I don't use any other form of media, apart from Den of Angels doll forum.
