I made naming the dolls priority over the past week and finally have a little progress to share. After thinking carefully about which doll would be a certain character, I gave them all names which would reflect their personality.

I had also made wigs for each of them from yarn, apart from the Ice Fairy wig which I purchased. The following four are my Elementals, air, water, earth and fire.
The next lot of photos are of the Fairies: unicorn, raven, owl and fox.
The last four are also Fairies: butterfly, luna moth, ice fairy, sea sprite
I realise the photos are not the best as they were taken with my phone, but they will give you an idea of where I'm at right now. I'm unsure about what to do next, it's a toss up between faceups or gowns, I guess it will depend on my mood and whether or not I can find some more inspiration.

Nice to see you back from hibernation. Sometimes it's just like that- one day you realize you have not been posting for weeks. Love the Names you picked. I think Vestia Twinkleflame is my favorite- or Amorata Flutterblossom..
ReplyDeleteThanks Mia. I think as I'm getting older, the harder it is to fit in all the things I used to do when I was young, sometimes I even wonder how I ever managed to raise a family, run a business and still cook & clean!!

I will be interested in seeing what you do with these dolls. I don't have any experience with completely blank dolls, although I want to give my Makie a face-up. It looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you; I hope your muse visits you early and often, Xanadu!

I love how you've named your dolls. :D Especially I find it interesting as it reminds me the way ElfQuest tribe of Wolfriders are named and some characters of the other tribes too. :) Loving that comic still, after so many years. I had some of my elves named similarly to yours, some are still waiting for their true names.
ReplyDeleteWhich do you think is more important to you, dresses or face ups? I feel it's great for you to have them wigs first! This is sometimes difficult for me, I usually get the face up first and after the face up is done it's not easy to make a wig if I'd try to make one myself. My new Bimong dolls are still waiting for some attention. I've found them some clothes even tough I've not decided about their styles yet. They have been around for few months already and I've not had inspiration on dolls.
Nice to be back-ish tough. I'm trying to do more things irl and not just doom scroll. ^^'
Thank you Xaya. I'm not really sure, I don't think of it as being important, I just go with how I'm feeling on the day. Sometimes I'm in the mood for sewing, othertimes I like to experiment with the wigs, but as for faceups . . . they always seem so daunting, so I guess that's why I'm leaving these for now. The inspiration to complete them will come, it's just taking a little while. 😄

It's soooo good to hear from you again! Time really flies fast! I love the names that you choose for your fairies, it seems that you really put a lot of thought into them. Morrighan Thundermist is definitely the one I love the most! All wigs are great and so in character! Can't wait to see the next steps aaaand... welcome back :D!
ReplyDeleteThanks it's good to be back, even though it might not be as often. Morrighan is coming along slowly, but she is one who's faceup I'm really looking forward to doing with some special mica powders . . . I just hope I can get her to look as I imagine she should look. 😊
