Ladybird, Ladybird, Fly Away Home . . .

Is this little ladybird dress going to b flying home to you? Yes, I am having a give away!

Ooops! These shoes are a little big for me.

There are many variations of this old English nursery rhyme (1744),
but this version by Helen Ferris (1957) is my favourite.

Ladybird, Ladybird, fly away home
the field mouse is gone to her nest
the daisies have shut up their sleepy red eyes
and the birds and the bees are at rest

Ladybird, Ladybird, fly away home
the glow worm is lighting her lamp
the dew's falling fast, and your fine speckled wings
will flag with the close clinging damp

Ladybird, Ladybird, fly away home
the fairy bells tinkle afar
make haste or they'll catch you and harness you fast
with a cobweb to Oberon's star.

It inspired me to make this little Ladybird dress for my sweet Little Lilly, but I had enough fabric to make two!

But my Ladybird dress is very pretty.
So, if you would like your girl to own a ladybird dress like this one, just leave a comment and follow my blog and you'll receive an entry to WIN THIS LITTLE DRESS which fits an Iplehouse Pixxie.

Good luck to you all, bye!
It will be drawn in two weeks time and results will be published here on 1st November.
