Yes, the Christmas festive season certainly can conjure up happy and somewhat peaceful pictures in ones mind, but for me it's just one hell of a hectic time of year that overwhelms me and eats up all the time in my day. So today I am making a stand, yes, today I am taking some "me time", time to photograph some dolls and write in my blog.
Stand by for some follow up ~
They say Christmas is a time of contemplativeness. Yesterday contemplativeness meant a smoking mixer, an exploding water bottle (I knocked it over on our stone kitchen floor) and cutting down all of the dried fruits for my Christmas cake by hand. Yes, very contemplative indeed... SIGH But this morning we made the cake ready. It smells so yummy!
ReplyDeleteOh Anja if we all actually had the time during this season to really reflect on things. Ha ha ha! But I must say the picture you paint of your cake is making my mouth water.

Christmas is chaotic for me too when I have to plan Christmas lunch at our house but thankfully, this year, the in-laws are hosting it at their house so I just have to turn up and Dad will be away so hubby and I get another Christmas night to ourselves, the second one in a row! I think we're planning to watch the first Home Alone movie. It's become a bit of a Christmas tradition.
ReplyDeleteI eat way too much at Christmas but there's just so much nice food.
Hi Alasse,
DeleteI did the Christmas catering for the whole family for years'n'years, then when my dad passed on Christmas Day, I couldn't face it any more. So unless my kids offer (which they don't), hubby and I stay home, pig out on yummy stuff while watching the complete Lord of the Rings. To be completely honest, we have had the best Christmases by ourselves with our dogs. :)
Hugs,

Hello Sandy,
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I think too many run through the holidays and don't enjoy them as much as they should. My decorations were up the second weekend of November and my Christmas shopping was done by November 22nd. People think I'm nuts, but while they are running around to try to get everything together, I'll be watching Garfield's Christmas in my pj's with a cup of hot chocolate. Enjoy your "you" day!
Big hug
Giac
Oh dear Giac, you are so organised, I envy you. Now you do paint a lovely relaxed picture of yourself for me to imagine, I can really see you there in your PJ's, and what a wonderful choice of movie, I love Garfield!
