Feeling Sad

So very sad to hear of the death of Alan Rickman, one of my all time favourite actors. I adored him as Professor Severus Snape in the "Harry Potter" films and as the "Die Hard" villain Hans Gruber.

I was only speaking of him just the other day and this news came as a huge surprise. There are only a handful of people in the film industry I have admired as much as he, and am sorry to see this talented Shakespearian actor leave us at such a young age.

  1. Oh gosh, we were just talking about him recently. This comes as a bit of a shock to me. He was so young and vibrant still. That is incredibly sad. I loved him too as Professor Snape.

I don't even know what to say, I'm really speechless.

    1. Yes we were Alasse and I knew you would be as shocked as I. Sixty nine is certainly not old these days and coming straight after the death of David Bowie (also the same age) it's not really a great start to the new year.

Makes one realise life is short and we should make the most of the time we've got, living life to it's fullest while we can.

    2. David Bowie too? I hadn't heard. He'll always be my goblin king. I grew up with Bowie as that character.

Wow, a great singer and a great actor ... gone. The world will be a little dimmer without their great talent and presence in it.

It does really make one come face to face with our own mortality.

  2. Hello Sandy,
It was such sad news. Aside from being a brilliant, gifted actor, I have heard that he was a wonderful human being as well.
    Big hug

  3. Hello Sandi,
This week is being really bad, David Bowie passed away first and yesterday I knew about Alan Rickman, both being young still. I feel sad, Bowie was a kind of inspiration for me and I loved Alan Rickman as Professor Severus Snape, my fave character in "Harry Potter". RIP.
    Greetings.

  4. It has been a bit of a pile-up of celebrity deaths recently, hasn't it? Although human life span seems to be increasing over all, I know several people who've died in their sixties in just the last year or two. Really adds to my general "bummed out" feeling lately.

  6. He will be sorely missed. I loved him as Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility. And never will we see a Sheriff of Nottingham as he brought him to live. So sad, sad news, it saddens my heart.
