The Big White Cat

You may have already guessed, I am taking a little break from posting about dolls. I have even gone through parts of my studio and had a clean up, yes that's what I said . . . and a darn good one at that! All my UFO's that have been lying around waiting to be finished, some of them for many years, have gone in the rubbish bin. Along with a whole pile of teddy bear clothes (minus the buttons of course) and some old clothes that didn't fit any of my dolls.

And guess what? I don't feel at all bad that they are gone, just relieved of pressure to complete them. I guess you could say I am purring with contentment, just like the one in this poem. :)

White washed walls, large oak beams;

A warming-pan, a fire that gleams;

A wooden settle, wheel-back chairs;

Willow pattern plates, in pairs;

And there upon the homespun mat . . .

Purring, lies the big white cat!

Today I'm having a day out with my daughter . . . we are off to see the House of Dior exhibition at National Gallery of Victoria, then lunch and perhaps a little shopping.

Enjoy your weekend everyone . . . see you next week!

    1. Yeah me too. I feel FREE!

      Oh boy and what an exhibition it was Musume! You would have been doing back flips. :) Not to worry though, my daughter took 260 photos, so once I sift through them all, I'll post a few of my favourites for you to drule over.

    1. Hi Farrah!
      I have only just begun to do a big clean out, but it's a case of three in the bin and one back in the studio . . . but little by little it's going and I am getting much tougher on myself.

      Yes we both had a great time yesterday, left home at 10am and returned around 7pm after calling into Ikea on the way home. Fortunately it was my daughter who did most of the spending there, I just came home with new cutting boards. ;)

  3. I do think, it's a wise idea to give in sometimes and throw out stuff you know you will never get done, or for instances, I have a friend who's terrible at giving up on tv series, even if she ends up disliking them a lot. I find my time too precious to watch stuff I don't enjoy. I do like completing stuff, but not if it's becoming a task rather than enjoyment.
    I think you made a good decision.
    The poem was really lovely. Who wrote it? :)

    1. Oh I agree with you Lise, sometimes it can really pull you down when you have projects hanging over your head waiting to get finished, and like you said, when a fun hobby suddenly becomes a chore, it's not fun anymore. I used to really enjoy painting faces, but just lately I cannot seem to complete one that I am happy enough with to show anyone . . . hence they get wiped and just sit around . . . but I won't be throwing any of those out.

      The poem was on one of my old blogs and I never did find out who wrote it, I think it's one of those "Anonymous" ones.

  4. Hello!
    This was a soothing poem, so as cleaning up the projects that never get finished can be. Soothing. We all need that from time to time. Hope that you enjoyed the exhibition. It is lovely to do something else somedays. I often enjoy road trips, a good book or a great movie. Enjoy the weekend!
    Hugs!

    1. Hi Niina!
      Still more to go, but I'll get to it in time. I'm pleased you enjoyed the little poem and yes, we enjoyed Dior's exhibition, perhaps all was not what I would wear, but everything was so beautiful. We ended up walking nearly 7 km after visiting Ikea too, so we had plenty of exercise that day . :)

  5. I love these images. They illicit a feeling of warmth and safety. And being a cat lover, I'm always appreciative of seeing cat photos.

    A spring clean always feels great. I did that recently but not with my craft stuff although I kind of feel inspired to do that now myself!

    1. Hee hee! Nothing like being a fat white cat in front of a cosy fire eh?

      Hope your spring clean is going well. I've also been going through my wardrobe again. So much "dead stuff" in there, not skeletons, but I'm sure you know what I mean, the kind of clothes you love when you bought them, but never actually wore.! :)
