New Arrival and More on the Way!

Well my dear little Noa Pirris doll arrived yesterday and I've renamed her Peggy. I thought the name she was given was a bit of a mouthful, and one I would soon forget.

She is a large cuddly toddler doll made in Spain by Antonio Juan. Peggy is designed to sit or lie in a crib, but she can stand with the help of a doll support. She is 54 cm tall, with her head and limbs made from soft to the touch vinyl, which is phthalate free and slightly scented with Vanilla. The colour of the vinyl is quite pinkish, almost like a redhead that has caught the sun. :)

Her cuddly body is filled with polyester fibre and has a voice box that says 'Mama, Mama' and 'Papa, Papa' followed by lots of giggles when her tummy is pressed. I didn't realise this when I ordered her.

Her loose red curls are rooted and are a little sparse at the back of the head, but I can live with it. She has beautiful fixed blue sparkly eyes with long lashes along the top eyelid and I adore her happy facial expression, which has a tiny sprinkling of freckles over the nose and cheeks.

I have several Spanish made dolls now and there is not a single one which I would not recommend. The quality of the dolls is wonderful and their prices are very affordable. Up to now, I have been able to purchase the dolls either from Petalina or My Doll Best Friend in the UK.

However, I recently came across another range of Spanish made dolls that I wanted to bring home, but as I don't speak Spanish, found them difficult to attain directly from the Vidal Rogas website.

That's when my dear blogging friend, Sharon in Spain, came to my rescue. Sharon was kind enough to help me purchase these two naked Mari dolls. They are pretty dolls, with slim bodies, but are not photographed as well as they could be (as you can see by the ones above, the colouring is not quite the same, although they are supposed to be the same colour). However, the best thing for those like Sharon and I, who sew for their dolls . . . they are available to bring home naked!

I hope you are all enjoying your dolly week, bye for now.

  1. Peggy is very cute. I was about to claim I''m not into toddler dolls myself, but then I remembered I'm waiting for a Tiny Delf that's intended as a 1-2 year old as a younger sister to my Lolly. I wish it was easier to find cute, actual child-like clothes for that size though. To my eye, it looks much more like what a older child would wear. Oh well, I hope I will find some.
Congrats on getting a hold of the two girls. Friends in other countries are a blessing!

    1. Thank you Lise. I understand, not everyone likes toddler dolls, I wasn't that keen on them myself in the beginning. However, as often is the case with dolls, once you have one they seem to grow on you. :) Tiny Delfs and PukiFees are not the easiest to find child-like clothes for, Etsy has a few from time to time, but it takes a little while to scour the listings.

You are so right, it is very much a blessing having friends in other countries and I am so thankful for every one of them.
      Big hugs,

  3. Hi Sandi,

Congrats, Peggy is an adorable girl. I like her face and blue eyes.

So bad the Vidal Rogas website doesn't have an English option for worldwide customers, so glad that your friend can help you get those dolls. Sure you'll design beautiful dresses for them.

    Greetings ^^

    1. Hi Lily,
Thank you, her blue eyes look so real when you see them IRL.

I guess those of us who speak English tend to take it for granted that everyone does, however, we shouldn't expect that a Spanish website like Vidal Rogas should be written in English. That's not being very tolerant and perhaps a little arrogant to say the least. Perhaps it is a small business that doesn't want to become an international company, they maybe doing just fine selling locally.

Though having a website does open up doors to people like myself who find them by chance and love their dolls, so I was lucky I have a few friends in Spain. :)

    1. Hi Carolyn,
Thanks for stopping by, I'm doing pretty well. I wasn't sure what I was going to call her until she arrived and I unboxed her and looked at her pretty face. It was almost like she spoke her own name. :) I think she will be a lovely doll to make clothes for, as she's quite chubby . Her garments certainly won't be quite as fiddly as those for my tiny BJD's.

I am pleased you enjoy my collection. It wasn't my intention to make it so diverse, dolls tend to pick me. But as you say, it's interesting and I enjoy them all so much . . . it's certainly never dull around here when there are so many different dolls to play with. :)

  6. For some reason, I thought I had left a comment on this one but maybe I didn't. You have to excuse how spongey my brain has been lately!

Another congrats is in order. I love those gorgeous little freckles. The face up work on these dolls are really fantastic. I love how much expression they have.

The Mari dolls look like they will be a lot of fun to sew for!

    1. Hi Alasse,
Maybe it just got lost in cyberspace. :)

She will be a one and only, I just needed a baby/toddler doll for my cradle and she fits in there perfectly.

Yes, I think they will be.

  7. She's a little cutie Sandi, I have actually seen these dolls in the toy shops here, and have always admired their faces but I cannot get on with the cloth bodies, I like all vinyl but can appreciate that the soft bodied dolls must be lovely for children to cuddle :)
I'm glad that I could help with your Spanish purchases, it was a pleasure to do so actually. And of course it also means that I get to see the dolls without having to purchase one first! Always an added bonus!

    1. I love this little one Sharon, not as a normal collectable doll though. Like you I don't like fabric bodies, she was bought for a purpose. I needed a doll that would fit into my antique crib and also be large enough to fit into some clothes I had made for teddy bears.

      Thank you once again.
