Critters!

Last Friday hubby and I took Coco (our fur child) to have him professionally clipped. We were a little anxious, as he can be quite aggressive when he doesn't want to do something. The groomer, Abby, never showed the slightest concern when we told her about his recent antics when we tried to groom him. So we left him in her capable hands while we shopped, waiting all the while for a call to ask us to pick the little biter blighter up.

While shopping we came across these little animals in a gift shop window . . . I couldn't resist bringing them home. They will be just the shot to create a few Christmassy scenes with my dolls.

My PukiFees thought they were simply divine and would make perfect pets for them to play with. :)

We did get a call, much sooner than we expected, but not to say there was a problem, Abby had managed to get him done without a hitch . . . even his feet and bum, which is where I had always had the most problem and had scars to prove it!

Needless to say this little pooch will be visiting Abby on a more frequent basis in the future and we'll put the clippers away until we rescue another dog . . . hopefully one that doesn't bite!!

I know, looking at him in this photo, you would think butter wouldn't melt in his mouth, but this face can change as quickly as his mood. :)
Have a lovely week, big hugs,
X

    1. Hi Alejandra! We knew he was a biter when we adopted him, but we worked with him and he's been really good up until the time before last. When I went to groom him he became really agitated and took a snap at me, so we put the muzzle on him and it made it worse for me this time. As soon as he saw the clippers he became really fierce and I just knew I couldn't trim him without getting bitten again . . . so the rest of the story you know. :)

I really like the animals, I mean I have seen deer before, but not with the little critters on their backs and these are so cute.

  3. Hi Sandi,

Those little animals are so cute! You can take really beautiful Christmas photos with them and your girls.

Well, I'm not surprised that Abby managed to groom Coco, you know that I'm a dog groomer so I have worked with dogs like your sweety. Now you've found someone who can do that job and no more scars for you.

    Greetings ^^

    1. Hi Lily,
Thank you, I think they will be fun to photograph, I just need to think about what I want to do.

I remember and was waiting to see what you had to say about Coco. Abby said dogs know exactly what they can get away with and how to manipulate their owners. :) I have been grooming him myself for three years and it's only now that he's become so aggressive with me during grooming . . . but I am glad she can do it, I'm over it. LOL!

    2. You're welcome.

Yes, Abby is right though I'm not sure why he's become so aggressive after three years as normally they are since the beginning. Anyway you've found someone who can do it :)

      Greetings ^^

    3. We were told he was a biter before we adopted him, so we knew there would be problems . . . which we managed to overcome with training. He still gets cranky occasionally when he doesn't want to do something, and he gets very bossy if you don't keep him in check, but we never really had a problem grooming him until now.

  4. Oh my gosh, he is absolutely adorable!! I used to work at an animal shelter though, so I DO know what you mean. ;) Glad to hear Abby was quite capable to handle him! I love your new woodland creatures. They look so beautiful in the photos!

    1. Thank you Farrah, yeah he has a face to launch a thousand ships!! LOL!! Yes, I'm glad we found Abby.

The critters are lovely aren't they, I have them on display near our TV and can't stop looking at them. Funny how some things really tickle your fancy.

  5. What a cute little dog! And yes, it does look as if butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. I can completely understand though, our tiny little Chihuahua, who is such a sweetie most of the time, has now bitten three different vets now! Ooops! She just doesn't agree with them manhandling her! She may be tiny and cute looking but she has sharp little teeth.
I love the animals you brought home with you, they look perfect, as does the backdrop. They make such a lovely Christmassy scene, so I look forward to seeing what more you will do with them.
    Big hugs xx

    1. Yes, he is cute Sharon and very loving most of the time. Do you think both our dogs suffer from the "I'm not really this tiny, I'm a big dog" syndrome? LOL!
I thought you might. I was quite pleased with how the photos turned out, I used a strip of wadding to sit the animals & dolls on, hence them sinking in the "snow" slightly. I shall have to experiment more, these animals could look good with a couple of other backdrops too.

  6. Oh, he doesn't look that innocent at all! You can see those sparks in his eyes that are a great warning! I know that type (much too well, so do my hands :P)...

Forest animals are wonderful! They will do great on Xmas photos for sure!

    1. Ha ha ha! Joanna that's his loving face, he's just asking for treats. The sparks are the reflection of the flash. :)

Thanks, I think they will do nicely.

  8. Those animal critters are such a great size with your pukifee girl. They look like they are made well too. I love finding random stuff like that in the local shops!

Coco looks so sweet in that photo. Coco reminds me a lot of Jesse, our very first family dog that we had in Sydney when we lived there.

    1. Yes, the girls thought so too Alasse. :) They are made of resin, which sometimes can be painted in awful and un-natural colours, but these are painted really well.

He would say thank you, but he's outside today after throwing a tantrum this morning when I told him to eat his Kong in the kitchen and not in my office!! Have you posted any photos of Jesse on your blog? I'd love to see him/her.

    2. Sadly no photos of Jesse. She was more Mum's dog really. We brought her up here with us when we moved from Sydney back in '90. At that stage, I think we had had her for about 2 years. We got her as a puppy. She was so small! She's gone now, been gone a few years. She got old and blind but boy was she still fierce even then. She stayed with Dad after Mum passed away. I think the only photos were ones Mum took and I have no idea where they are. I regret not thinking to take photos of her now. She had such a lovely temperment. Next time I go over to Dad's, I'll see if I can track down some photos.

    3. I really hope you do find some. I wish I had taken a few more of our last little dog, but at least we have some, enough to make an album. :)
