Sunday in the Park

Quick snap this morning . . . anyone for cricket?

We have free entertainment each Sunday through summer with cricket in the park.

Our temperature reached 42c on Friday (some places in our state actually reached 47c), but dropped to 21c when the cool change came through, and it's been like this ever since.

Hope you are all having a lovely relaxing weekend.
Big hugs,
X

  1. I had heard you guys down there were experiencing high temperatures. We are too but not that high I don't think. It's been hot enough here to warrant aircons running all day though.

I only wish we had such lovely parks up here.

    1. Hi ALasse,
Hubby informed me (after I posted) that it actually got to 43c here, it seems we are always a little bit warmer than the city. We have ceiling fans in all the main rooms and we close the shutters on hot days and so we didn't need the air on until just before the change came through. It's such a beautiful day here we had breakfast and lunch on the terrace . . . we're BBQ tonight. :)

I am just amazed that the grass has stayed so green this year. I think we must have had the right balance of heat and rain.

  2. Even with the cool change on Friday, it was this morning before the temperature in our lounge room got down below 25°! It's nice to have a few cool days occasionally for a break.

    1. Oh you poor thing, it makes it very difficult to get a good night's sleep when it's so warm. Do you not have air conditioning Rachael? Today really has been heavenly here.

    2. Embarrassingly, our landlord had an air con installed at the start of December but I keep forgetting that it's there when I should turn it on.

  3. I would like being able to watch baseball games from my house. :) They look they're wearing uniforms; is this any kind of official play?

Wow, 43c is really hot! We hardly ever reach that temperature here in the summer. Of course, we live only a couple of miles from Lake Erie, which helps keep the temperature down, but the humidity is super high all summer. Mr. BTEG has breathing issues with asthma, so the first humid day the air comes on and generally stays on all summer.

It's still only Saturday here - just. :) I used to talk online with someone who lives in New Zealand, and I joked that she lives in the future.

    1. Hi Barb,
There is a baseball diamond in the park, but they don't play there very often, mainly during the winter here. I think today was two teams at practice as there were some not wearing uniforms.

My geography isn't the best, but I'm guessing your somewhere near where "On Golden Pond" was filmed? You know we have a lake in Oz with similar spelling . . . Lake Eyre, but it's completely dry in the summer and no humidity . . . it's salt flats!!

It's Sunday, nearly time to start the BBQ for dinner, so we're definitely in the future. LOL!

    2. Well, no, "On Golden Pond" was filmed on the east coast of the US, and we're in the midwest, about eleven to twelve hours away. Lake Erie is one of the five Great Lakes in the US, and each is big enough to technically be termed an inland sea. Lake Erie especially influences weather patterns just to its south, which is northern Ohio. It especially influences us in the winter (usually) when the cold, wet air comes from the northwest across Lake Erie and turns on the "Lake Erie Snow Machine." And that was probably far more than you wanted to know.

    3. Hahaha! It wasn't my geography after all, it was me thinking the film was shot near the Great Lakes. DUH! What a duffer I am. Looks like I should "Google" before I speak. LOL!

No not too much info Barb, I love hearing about where other people live, you can just chat away. :)

  5. Oh my, that's too hot!!! Here we have been starting to get days with 36C and they have predicted it will be 40C next weekend, but I don't think it will reach that high, I hope not! We are already having trouble with wildfires as it is.
I'm loving they do activities near you on the weekends. We used to have more park spaces before where I live, but they changed the roads and most parks disappeared :(..... Now we have a few trees here and there but it's mostly concrete.

    1. Oh no never too hot Alejandra, I love the hot weather, summer is never long enough in my books! Oh dear, I hope the wildfires are not close to you, that is a scary thought.

That's really sad, we need our parks with the trees. We shouldn't loose our park, at least not while I'm still alive and kicking! They did try to resume some of it for housing a few years back, but everyone in the neighborhood kicked up such a stink, that the council never proceeded. Perhaps it's time to move to the country?

    2. I love summer so even in the hottest of days I'm happier than in the mildest winter days haha.
Here they have tried several times to buy our houses to turn them into tall building but everyone in the neighboorhood refuses to lose this ecovilla, so they haven't been able to procceed. However we can't do much about they taking our parks. They are building one kind of close to my house to compensate, but I'm not too convinced and it's not in a very safe area.

  6. Nice photo. :)

You have a real wave of heat. On the other hand there is snowing for 3 days where I live. :D

    1. Thanks Joanna. No not a heatwave, that's just normal summer here, it goes up and down. Now when we have a week of heat over 40c you can call that a heatwave. :)

Snow looks really cool in photos and in the movies, but having to deal with the cold, frozen cars, moving snow out of the way to get anywhere and having it turn to slush when it thaws . . . puts me right off snow. So my dear I do not envy you at all.

      Stay warm and cosy inside.

    2. So, so true... I took my pictures, I don't need the snow anymore. Looking forward for spring! Can't wait.

  7. OOoooh I love the hot temperatures and would be happy to have them all year round to be honest. We also have 40C+ in Sevilla in the summer and I am happy with it, but admit that night time can be a challenge. At the moment here in the winter, it's about 18-22C I think, and it's been lovely and sunny but today was a bit chilly in the shade as there was a sharp breeze. I like seeing the cricket in the park, how lovely is that! I hope you enjoyed your BBQ, there's nothing better than cooking and eating outside in the sunshine in my humble opinion!!

    1. See I knew you were a girl after my own heart Sharon! 18-22c in winter isn't too hard to bear, but those cold winds can be a bugger. :)

Oh yes I had a lovely succulent steak, hubby is pretty good using the Webber. I'm so glad we extended the terrace, nothing quite like alfresco dining . . . almost like going out for dinner!!

    1. I guess you are another who loves the heat Farrah? Yes, it's fun to see the cricketers all enjoying themselves, though I'm usually too busy to stay and watch the whole game.

    1. Hi Musume, I guess it is for those who play it, I watch it occasionally, but I'm not really a cricket fanatic . . . unless you really understand the game, it can be a bit slow to watch. :)
