For Alasse

The book with the photos I am about to show you has over 200 pages full of inspiration, measures 29x36x2cm and weighs 2.8 kilograms. If you want to own one, you maybe lucky to find one still available here for AU$82.50 with free delivery. It's worth every penny!

On the left page, the Bar Afternoon Ensemble, which was part of Dior's spring-summer 1947 collection, was composed of a silk tussore jacket and a full, black pleated wool crepe skirt.  This sunray style of pleating has, once again, become the latest "tendance de la mode".

I find it fascinating how fashion repeats itself, given a little time. I hope you enjoy! :)

  1. I was just talking to my Dad's partner a few days ago about how not only fashion but appliances from bygone eras have made a full circle and returned today. Look at all the retro inspired appliances now on the shelf at the local Good Guys, Harvey Norman etc. And all the retro inspired clothing in the local fashion stores. It's amazing.

Thank you for posting the pages from your book. Mine is definitely not this one, same cover but blank pages for mine. I love your book though. The photography and fashion in those pages look stunning. I love photography fashion books like these. I want to do one with my dolls but haven't got around to it yet.

That second last photo, a Integrity Toys collector made a similar photo with her IT dolls. Let's see if I can find it ...okay found it here.

I'll take a few pages of the Megan Hess fashion illustrations for you and put it on my blog later today.

    1. Yes, in a way it's a bit like travelling back in time. LOL!

You're welcome Alasse. It's one of my favourite books, but I also love Couture by Caroline Rennolds Milbank. I just wish they didn't weigh so much, they just about break my arms picking them up!

I did a book like that with all my teddy bears for my dad when he was alive, he loved it. I think you should do one with your dolls, you have so many fashion dolls to use and it would be fun.

I just checked it out, she did a fabulous job of re-creating the photo.

Thanks Alasse, I am going to order a copy as I like her illustrations. Do you have any of her prints or her book on Coco Chanel?
      Big hugs,
      X

    2. I only have, "The Dress", "Iconic" and "Fashion House" at the moment. I was going to get Coco Chanel and Paris and New York but QBD sells them for a lot! I will most likely either wait for a sale or see if I can grab it online for a better price. There are a few online bookstores with pretty competitive pricing.

Which one are you planning on getting?

    3. I already have Coco, but have ordered Fashion House. I think I will most probably order Paris next, then perhaps The Dress and New York at a later date.

  7. Such a beautiful album! I believe it is worth the price (but free shipping is something I really appreciate ;)- makes buying anything oh-so-much nicer). The pictures are gorgeous!

    1. Oh it is Chiriann and full of inspiration. :) I think we all love free shipping, but I doubt if it is really free. I bet it's simply incorporated in the selling price, but it's a nice thought and it makes us feel better. :)
