Project: Dressing Salon

Thinking pink again! Well let me tell you, it wasn't intentional, I just used the wallpaper as inspiration and it so happened I had just the right pink fabric and Ultrasuede on hand. :)

Still I guess pink is a pretty colour for a girls dressing salon, the place where she can sit quietly and do her make up and dress for success.

I covered the floor with some woolen fabric from my stash, the aubergine rug is Ultrasuede (it makes great rugs, no need to sew to have neat edges, just cut neatly), the skirts on the table and stool are spotted voile. Haven't figured out what to do with the mirror yet and there are lamps to finish.

I am not exactly sure whether this room will remain as it is, I really wanted to fit in a bed as well, to make it a bed room, however, it's not quite large enough. Anyway I shall keep on with the accessories and see what the week ahead has in store.

Hope you are all enjoying your Easter break, and eating lots of chocolate!
Big hugs,
X

  1. Have wonderful Easter too! I have to be careful around chocolate... oh, at least I could try ;)

Pink rules! There is no better color for a room of a lady... I absolutely adore the wallpaper and skirts on the table and stool. Soooo cute! Cannot wait to see the whole room finished (I'm very curious about the lamps!).

    1. Thank you Chiriann. It will take some time to finish all the accessories and I want to do a tutorial on the lamp which means extra time, but I will get there in the end. :)

  3. This is very pretty and reminds me of a dressing table and stool that I made for my dollshouse many years ago, I always wanted a kidney shaped dressing table for my own bedroom and because I couldn't find one, so made one for the dollshouse instead!
Your choice of fabrics are lovely and yes, it's the perfect place for this young lady to sit and do her makeup or paint her nails :)
    Big hugs to you

    1. When I was about 14 my girlfriend had one and I had a serious case of envy. Unfortunately Sharon, my bedroom was so tiny it would not fit, so now all these years later I did the same as you and made one. :) Did you make accessories for the table too? I'm thinking of adding two tall lamps, one either side of the mirror, then adding a brush and comb set and jars of cosmetics. Of course there is still one blank wall that needs attention as well, but I have a clear picture in my head now. :)

    2. Sorry for the delay in replying Sandy, I have been busy with my mum visiting and haven't put my laptop on until today.
Yes, I did make accessories for mine. I made a brush and mirror set using fimo and also some tiny jars and perfume bottles from beads. I think making things was the best bit about having a dollshouse, I got bored with it once it was all done!!!

    3. Oh that's okay Sharon, I guessed you have had visitors. Let's face it, sometimes we all need a break from our computers. :)

I can relate to that, I often find the making gives me the most pleasure. It's just a pity that when it's all done, we wonder what we are going to do with what we've just created. LOL!

  4. Happy Easter Weekend!

You know, you are beginning to influence me on this pink colour. You always manage to make it look enticing! I love how this turned out. Looks homey too and the choice of wallpaper is fantastic.

    1. Thanks Alasse. Initially I was going to pick up on the orange, but I didn't think it was the best colour for a ladies dressing salon or bedroom. :)

  8. You know I'm not a pink girl, but I just love how this room looks! It's perfect for the ladies. Using voile was a great idea. I think you can hang the mirror on the wall right above the table and then make some two twin lamps from beads on the both sides of it.

    1. Thanks Joanna, I had the voile already and as it was fine and gathered well I thought it would work okay, but I am thinking maybe I should have weighted the hem so it draped better.

Funny you mentioned the lamps, I have already made some with beads that I wasn't really happy with, so I am re-doing them as a tutorial which I hope to finish this week. Just have to edit the photos. Still debating on putting the mirror on the wall as I want to use the room for other things.
