Vidal Rogas Mari Dolls

I haven't spoken much about my 16" (41cm) Vidal Rogas Mari Dolls, which arrived with help of my dear friend Sharon, back in October, 2017. So I thought it was about time I did.

Their bodies are naturally proportioned and are made of hard vinyl. When they were new, they smelt of vanilla, but that has completely faded away now.

They are five way jointed and although their heads turn, they do not move up or down. This makes posing them difficult, but they are still stunning to look at. The dolls come complete with undies, socks and shoes, which allows them to stand unaided.

My Cierra has beautiful straight red hair and fixed green eyes, with some very faint freckles sprinked across her very petite nose.

Whilst my Marina has wavy black hair with blue eyes, which I find very striking. I'm not a real fan of their eyebrows, but that could be easily fixed. (The current dolls have different eyebrows.)

Both dolls have hand applied eyelashes, which are very long and may not be to everyone’s liking, but trimming them is definitely an option. I like them just as they are! Their hair is rooted, thick and brushable.

These are really lovely dolls, which are made in Spain and usually sell for 19.95€ each, which in itself is really quite reasonable for a doll of this quality.

It's a little unfortunate for us in the English speaking world that their website is only written in Spanish or French, however, it looks like these dolls maybe going out of production, which is sad, because I wouldn't have minded adding a blonde with curly hair and brown eyes to my collection.

Well that's it for today kiddos.
Big hugs, X

    1. I thought so RM, but not the best for posing. I don't know if the manufacturers are going out of business, I think they are just discontinuing this line. But there are still some left (or at least there were last week), so you may still have an opportunity to purchase one. :)

  2. They are pretty! I really like your redhead. Argh! I promised my husband I wouldn't buy any more dolls for a while, unless I had immediate plans for them! And now I want EVERYTHING!
The website is in English on my phone. But not sure if it's because of the website or something to do with the translate settings on my phone.

    1. Well at least you can understand everything Rachael, like that the new Mari's are actually 6cm shorter than mine. But that certainly doesn't detract from their beauty by any means and with the deal that they have going at present, they are a steal. :)

  3. Cierra has the feel of a Sindy doll to me. I think part of it is the straight hairstyle, and the way that her eyes are looking. I bet you made the purple top. The lace is pretty!

I studied Spanish for seven years. It was a long time ago, but I'll have to see how well I can navigate around that website. :)

    1. Hi Barb!
I'm not really familiar with Sindy, though I am sure I would have seen them on other people's blogs. Do you have one that you could share? Yes, I did and the skirt.
Oh I bet you'll have no problems, you'll be navigating around that site like a professional doll hunter in no time. :)

    2. This is a pretty good image of what I mean:

Only Sindy's eyes looked the other way than Cierra's. And she had different hairdos throughout the years. I'm not sure if any of the real old-time Sindy dolls ever had bangs, or just the new Tonner ones.

I had no problem navigating that Vida Rogas website at all. Fortunately, I did not see anything I absolutely needed. :)

    3. Oh thanks for that link Barb, it's a great site and I can see what you mean now.
Somehow I knew it would be a breeze for you, you're a good girl to resist temptation. :)

  5. These are lovely looking dolls. I like how their faces are painted too, it's very soft and sweet. And of course, gorgeous little freckles! I love how that was done. It looks so natural.

    1. Thanks Alasse, the redhaired little girl is my favourite of the two, but you probably already guessed that. LOL!

  6. Oh my goodness, is it really two years ago that you got them? Wow that time flew. They are pretty dolls, but I agree with you on the eyebrows, being so fine it makes them look more mature. Spanish dolls do seem to be very well made and yet they are reasonably priced and if you get clothes for them, that are also made here, they are very good quality too.
I love how you've dressed the little redhead, she looks so good in those colours.

    1. I know Sharon, I could hardly belive it myself, it really doesn't seem like that long at all. I really should have a go at softening those eyebrows, it might inspire me to do some more faceups. Oh I agree, do you have many yourself?
Thank you. I'm planning to do something with Marina's hair, maybe some type of braiding. Then I want to make them both more clothes to wear.

    1. I am really pleased with these dolls Chiriann, despite them lacking in articulation, the are so pretty and look lovely when they are dressed. Yes, they are very reasonable for such good quality dolls.

  8. Hi! I actually used to live very close to where those dolls are produced. There were lots of toy factories in that area years ago. In fact, that area is known as "The Toy Valley". Unfortunately, many of the factories closed or went to some sort of difficulties between the 90s and the early 00s. This company is located in the same town as Famosa, the company that manufactures the Nancy dolls.
I do agree that, for the quality, this have a great price, specially compared with the Nancy collector, that often have prices between 30-60€. I do agree, the website not being in english is a bummer, and also it's not very user friendly. Let me know if I can help you with that. I hope you can find some more before the factory closes.
    Take care.

    1. Hi MC! I am aware of "The Toy Valley", and also the Nancy dolls, which I believe are now being reproduced. They are lovely dolls too, but at 43cm not really my size . . . but I have learnt never to say never. :)

I have looked at Vidal Rogas site and haven't been able to see one with blonde curly hair, so I guess I will just have to miss out unless I find one on the secondary market . . . but I do appreciate your offer of help, thank you! :)
