My Kids

I'm not sure what I am going to do with my Iplehouse KID Paige (Normal Skin), she's had a difficult time trying to find herself and I'm not sure why. She's not had much attention since I got her and she desperately needs shoes, I'm not even sure if I like her in this wig.

Lonnie (Peach Gold Skin) has changed her styling a few times and this is her latest phase. She told me she wanted curly hair, but it kind of swamps her face.

Irene (Special Real Skin) was my first KID. She grew up far quicker than I expected and was into more mature fashion long before I realised I hadn't given her character much thought. :)

I love her face, but she needs a new body as her resin colour has begun to change where she caught some sun on her shoulder. Stupidly, I left her in the wrong place in the doll room.

I shouldn't think it will be long before I give all three a complete make over, especially now I have them in my studio where I can see them. I need to really think about using all three in the same story though, maybe as cousins or room mates  . . . any suggestions?

  1. Your three Kids are gorgeous. I love how you have styled them so far, particularly your red head girl but you know me and red heads! Cousins is always a good road and it makes them blood related. They all look like they could be related so it would work.

    1. Thanks Alasse, but the styling has to change if I am to make them all look a similar age. I like the red hair but there is far to much of it on in particular. I think Paige will probably be a little older than the other two, due to her sculpt, but I'll try and bring her age back a bit if I can . . . maybe she won't let me, I won't know until I try.

  2. Ah yes, once you think you have a ball-jointed doll figured out it throws you a curveball. LOL, my Johnny did that. I personally like the brown wig on Paige, and I love the exuberance of the red wig on Lonnie, but your dolls are your rules! I look forward to seeing what you do with them.

    1. This has happened a bit with these dolls RM, but I'm not going to let it beat me. :) The wig is a lovely wig, and at first I thought it was just the wig, but now I am thinking perhaps her face-up is a bit strong, I know her cheeks are quite red. I guess only time will tell, I'll keep on trying until I get it right. :)

  4. Hello! Such beautiful KIDs. Have been eyeing on a Lonnie and even a BID Bordy for a while but I need to sit calmly in the boat while floating on the doll sea.
Bummer with the sun, but that can happen to all of us. I was not so careful with my Esther, so she is yellow here and there.
I like the wigs on Paige and Irene. The one on Lonnie is great, but maybe not on her. Her face disappear in a way. Maybe softer curls could work?
    Hugs!

    1. Iplehouse doll are all beautiful Niina, but beauty is not always enough. It depends whether you want a younger or older child, but take your time and decide when the time is right.

It's the first time, I have been so careless with any of my dolls, but as Rachael has said, a dress with sleeves would do the trick in covering it up, so I probably will do that, at least for now.

I do have a shorter curly wig, but unfortunately it's not red. However, I will try what you suggest and see if it looks any better, if it does I may have to dye it. :)

  5. I have the same issue with my Paige. Her factory face up makes her look personalityless and bland. Which is a shame because it's a great face.
I'm surprised by how much younger and like a BID Lonnie looks with big hair.
Irene's shoulder doesn't look that bad. If you put her in something with sleeves, you wouldn't even see her birthmark.

    1. Paige is one of those dolls that is hard to sort Rachael, I liked her immediately I saw her on IH, but when I she first arrived home I wasn't sure if she'd actually fit within my doll family. I am not going to give up on her though. :)

Lonnie is a lovely doll and looks great in everything I put her in, but you hit the nail on the head there, she does look a lot younger in this wig.

I'm going to take your advice with Irene and redress her with a sleeve, much less expensive option . . . now why didn't I think of that in the first place? DUH!

  6. Paige looks very intense to me, and like she is trying very hard to find herself. Another color wig might alter her eye color and her expression. I love the scalloped lace trim on the bottom of her dress.

I agree with Lonnie that curly hair suits her. Maybe a ribbon to tie it back?

Is Irene going to get her age rolled back, or stay mature? I don't know enough about the dolls to know how the three of them would look together, so I don't have any real suggestions, but room mates does sound like fun.

    1. I agree Barb, perhaps that's the problem. I will try more wigs and different eyes and see if I have any luck. Thank you.

Maybe, still not sure if that would work as a hat is included in future plans.

I think maybe rolled back, a little at least. Still thinking on that one myself, it could go either way Barb, but it will be fun you can be sure of that. :)

  7. You don't see many Irene's around. I think she and Lonnie look like they could be sisters. I keep looking at both Paige and Daisy but haven't bitten on either one of them yet as I'm still trying to figure out how they would fit in. I do love Paige's sculpt though. Sometimes it is really hard to find the "perfect" wig/eye combo to make them come alive for us. Lots of times they have minds of their own. Best laid plans and all that...………...

    1. You're right Jackie, and that is a shame because she is a lovely sculpt. Daisy would be a temptation for me and I know someone else who's tempted by her too!

Oh boy don't I know it, and some dolls are down right cantankerous about it too! Especially those pukifees. For such tiny wee dolls, they certainly know their own minds. LOL!

    2. Yes, little Annie (my Pukifee) certainly has a mind of her own and chose completely different eyes/hair than I originally intended for her, but I love how she ended up, so not complaining. Now she's insisting on a friend and I'm having a hard time trying to decide who as I love lots of the other sculpts.

    3. It won't really matter who you choose next Jackie, because she will also want another friend and your pukifee family will continue to grow and grow. LOL!

    1. Irene is a very easy doll to love Joanna, she is a lovely sculpt and in this colour resin she's stunning . . . I was lucky I made the right choices when I purchased her.

The story is coming together nicely, but there will be no reveals until completed. :)

  9. All of your girls are so cute! I know I'm repeating myself, but ... they just are! I love them as they are (especially Irene), but at the same time I'm curious about the makeover. They can be friends, bound by some kind of a secret they need to keep... Or the mystery of something they found toghether?

    1. Thank you Chiriann, don't worry I get like that too. :) I guess there are only so few ways to say you like dolls. I do have an idea for their make overs now, but only time and experiments will tell if I can pull it off. They are both good ideas too, maybe I can work them in as well . . . thanks again.

  10. These are lovely girls Sandi, as are most Iplehouse dolls, but I completely understand where you're coming from when it comes to styling them. I struggle with some of my dolls too, I have ideas but they don't translate well from my head onto the doll. I used to have KID Lonnie too and she is such a lovely girl but agree that maybe her red hair is a great colour for her but maybe a bit too full for her sweet little face. Would you be able to thin it out at all? Wigs are the bain of my life and I struggle a lot with getting just the right one.
I really like your Irene too, such a nice face.
I hope you will have fun giving them all new looks, and look forward to seeing what you do with them.
    Big hugs xxx

    1. Hi Sharon!
I do love the red curls on Lonnie, but I am afraid to do anything with the wig in case I stuff it up, but if I get desperate enough I just may take the plunge. :)

Wigs are always a problem, until you get the right one, but how many do you end up buying before your doll is satisfied!! I have so many, too many in fact. I even thought of selling a few, but there are some I don't even know the names of anymore, so what's a girl to do?

Irene will always be a favourite of mine, I adore her.
