Hopefully, I will be able to maintain all of them in the way I would like and that over time, each blog will have it's own roll of visitors, who are interested in reading about those particular dolls and stories.
To be brutally honest, I am not even sure where blogs are headed any more, but blogging about my dolls and their associated hobbies is something I really enjoy, along with the company I keep here. Sometimes, I find it hard to believe I have been blogging for so long, the ten years have slipped by so quickly. However, there doesn't seem to be the interest in blogs or blogging as there used to be when I began back in 2009, which for us who write them, is a damn shame.
There have been occasions where I've wondered, whether at some point in the future, people simply stop talking and reading, and merely press buttons and look at pictures . . . I truly hope not . . . I find that a really sad thought.
Now I'm going back to working on my KIDS, but I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts . . . which social media do you enjoy the most?
I never mind when people talk about all different kinds of dolls even if they aren't the kinds I like best. Mostly because it means I get to see all sorts of different kinds of dolls that I wouldn't otherwise see or even look for, which is interesting.
ReplyDeleteI'm not big on social media. I'm too antisocial for Facebook. I do have Pinterest but don't really use it socially. I'm a sucker for Instagram though.
I'm probably the same Rachael, but not all of the doll world are so open to new dolls as we are. :) It will be interesting to see everyone's answers though.
DeleteI haven't been on FB for years and although I have looked at other SM, the only one I have now besides here, is Pinterest, but mainly to save photos of dolls that I like or things that inspire me. :)
Big hugs,

I love different dolls. Some of them I have, some of them I wish I had, and some of them I just love watching on your blogs. So I really enjoy this kind of mish-mash. :)
ReplyDeleteBut I will follow you on how many blogs you want. :)
I love social media for connecting people all around the world. I suppose I will never visit US or Australia, but I can keep in touch with the people from there. That's amazing.
On the other hand I hate how time consuming they are... All of them - Facebook, Instagram, Flickr... And I don't like the rush that is there.
I love blogs though. They have this calm and simple form. I really enjoy company here. :)
I love different dolls too Joanna, I only wish there were more doll blogs that I enjoyed reading.
DeleteThat's so very nice of you, you are a real sweetie. :)
You never know what the future holds, maybe one day you will visit Australia or USA. I never thought I would be going to Paris next year either, but the passport is done and tickets will be booked in January.
Sharing the hobby with like-minded people no matter where they are in the world is special and I like it when people show photos of places they visit in their own country. We actually have a pretty good bunch of "talkers" here and that's what I enjoy the most about blogging, the interaction between us all.
Big hugs,

You are very brave to take on the task of having different blogs for different types of dolls. I struggle to keep up with my one blog! I don't mind reading blogs that are about all sorts of dolls, or, to be honest, even when they are not always about dolls, I just like to read about peoples interests and their different lives etc.
ReplyDeleteAs for social media, I like looking at photos on places like Instagram but I prefer Flickr for my own photos as I like to keep my photos 'organised' and I can't do that on IG. I read Facebook on a regular basis but mostly for the doll groups. I do post other things on there but I spend most of my time getting 'angry' about things I read on there. I'm often really tempted to close my account on there but something always stops me....I think maybe I make too many excuses!!!
I also like Pinterest, but mainly I go on there to look at something in particular. I also like looking at videos of different crafts on You Tube. And now that I read what I've just written, I realise where my time goes ;)
I'm so pleased to hear that the trip is coming together nicely....
Will email soon.....I'm so bad at emailing!!!
Big hugs xxx
Maybe so Sharon, but I guess because I don't have all the other stuff like FB & Twitter, I have more time to blog. That's what I really enjoy, because we have "conversations" here and we may only be a small group, but it's friendly and more intimate.
DeleteI have no interest in the negative aspect of any media, I don't even read a newspaper and only occasionally listen to the news on the tv or radio, so you can see why I don't do FB or Twitter etc.
Hahaha! So you understand now where I'm coming from. :)
Big hugs,

To be honest, I... don't really like social media. At all. And I don't use any of them. I have blog here and few accounts on gaming websites and that's all. I prefer blogs over FB or Instagram, even if I'm missing some interesting people because of that.
ReplyDeleteAs for the dolls, it's the same with me - I though I would be able to stick to the BJD, but then Barbies came... and fairy-tale dolls... and then nendoroids (well, technically they are not dollsm but figures ;)). But I guess I would be bored pretty quickly with only one type of them.
So no worries! I will follow as many of your blogs as needed to stay in touch :)!
Sometimes I wonder if anyone really likes social media Chiriann, I think some simply get hooked on it, like smokers on cigarettes. We have a good variety of people here, from all over the world, but are bonded by our love of dolls, and I like that about blogging.
DeleteIt's nice to see all the different dolls, whether we collect them or not, but for me I think having them seperated makes it easier for me to maintain their storylines.
I won't be posting on all my websites every day, just as new dolls arrive, or I spend a day doing a shoot about a certain type of doll or writing a new chapter in a story. So, I'm really pleased you will stay in touch. :)

I agree, it really has changed a lot since the early days of blogging and tweeting. Then it was a way to keep in touch with friends and relatives far away, but today it is just a platform (for some, not all) to write their opinions as the truth. I love sharing things, not for likes or comments, but just because. I like to blog and post some photos on my Instagram. That is enough for me. And the company is great! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYes, that's true too Niina. I don't think any of us are in the blogging game for likes, but I think we all enjoy the "conversations" we have via the comments box. Sharing plays a big part in blogging and that's what makes it fun. It's also a great way of keeping a record of the dolls you own, so I'm glad you enjoy blogging too!

I am not sure if it's just my browser, but somehow some parts of the blog are shown vertically? I thought about splitting up my blog into a doll's section and a sewing section, but I hardly sew human clothes anymore, so I leave it like it is. As long as you keep blogging we're happy. I am always a bit sad if bloggers I have been following stop posting, but of course I can understand that other things might take priority in people's lifes.
ReplyDeleteHi Mia!
DeleteI haven't had anyone else tell me that, has it only happened today?
Having different sections or blogs is perhaps not for everyone, but I think it works for me and stops the chance of me becoming bored with my layout. :) I doubt if I'll give blogging away anytime soon, I may take time out for family or health matters, but I'll always let you know. However, if I stop suddenly, it'll mean I've kicked the bucket.
Big hugs,

I took a screenshot of how it looks in chrome

I don't even want to think about you stopping suddenly! Hugs back :)
From what I can see it's only the side column that's the problem Mia. I am not using Chrome now as I've had too many hiccups with it. As long as you can read the posts it shouldn't be too much of a problem though. :)
DeleteOh neither do I! LOL!
I have tried doing several blogs and I have to admit, for me, it ended up being too time consuming and exhausting! Right now I have only two blogs, my doll blog and my Sims blog and the Sims blog rarely gets updated these days. I just put all my dolls in the one blog as for me, it's all under the one doll collecting umbrella. Plus you know already that I've been struggling so much with motivation lately.
ReplyDeleteBlogs will always be my favourite spaces to hang out and interact with people with, purely because it encourages conversation and the sharing of thoughts. I've been blogging since 2004 (some of my older blogs are long gone now though!). I enjoy actually reading a blog post and engaging with the author about it. The problem these days is that people don't like to read. They like to look and hit a button and move on. There are still those of us who are old school enough to hang on to the last vestiges left of the 'old world' as I like to call it.
It's the same with letters. No one actually writes letters anymore. I used to have a Pen pal in Portugal back in the late 90s and I always enjoyed receiving the letters in the mail. Sure, it took 2 months to arrive by mail but it was something to look forward to. Nowadays, people just email, which is good for convenience but also bad for keeping up with our handwriting!! No wonder the postal system is lamenting that no one posts letters anymore. I just find something so personal about handwritten letters.
I do have facebook and instagram and I update on both of those semi-regularly or when the mood strikes but I will always update my blog first and foremost and catch up on blogs of those I follow first before turning to facebook or instagram. In fact, I tend to get to those last two when I have excess time or am bored. They're not high on my priority list to be honest.
Facebook I have found is bad for discouraging conversation. No one really talks to each other on there anymore and the same for Instagram. Can you imagine what would happen if technology ever failed? So many people would be lost.
You and I would continue to write physical letters though so we're good!!
This is such a great topic for thought and discussion. See why I like blogs?
I know what you mean, I've had more than one blog before and gave it up. However, I don't think what I'm doing now will actually be more time consuming Alasse, as I won't be posting on each blog every day, but I'll simply rotate them.
DeleteFunny you should mention pen-pals, I remember having one too, though I wonder how many young people have even heard of such a thing. OMG are we getting old?? LOL!
It seems people are mostly either one thing or an other . . . and most of us are still bloggers at heart . . . I wonder if we were always the chatty ones in class at school?? :)
Big hugs,

SUN IS OUT TODAY!! YAY!! Taking the rest of the day off to go on an outing. :)
Hola, he descubierto tu blog a través de "YeYé dolls".
Yo me mantengo fiel a mis blogs. No me parece mala idea dedicarle uno a cada tipo de muñeca, es una cuestión de organización, y yo soy amante del orden.
Con tu permiso, me quedo aquí.
Saludos.
Hello Ilona, welcome to my blog, I'm pleased you are in agreeance and are planning to stay. I shall look forward to your visits. I am also following your blog now as well. :)
