Looking Forward

It's been some time since I last posted on my blog, and certainly an even longer time since I shared anything to do with my former Blythe doll collection. However, in my absence I have not been idle, I have been sorting through my wardrobe, discarding clothes I no longer wear (and replacing them with different pieces). Sorting through dolly clothes, fabrics as well as other dolly related things.

In doing so, I came across a doll which I thought I had sold when I had my Blythe doll clear out many moons ago. She is, or I should say was, an origiinal Petit de'jeuner Champs Elysees, which I had modified to a small degree, but never really felt the love for. I had even given her new bright red mohair curly locks, which you can see remanence of on her dome. To get straight to the point, this is how she looks now after pulling everything apart and culling her curls.

More recently I posted a photo of a doll who was wearing this when she arrived, and needless to say it's no longer part of that doll's wardrobe. I intend doing the same with this dress as I did with the Blythe doll, and pull it all to pieces.

I have already begun moving forward with my plans for this doll and have ordered some gorgeous cyan shades of Saran to re-root her scalp, in the hope I can mix it to the shade I see in my mind's eye.

I'm looking forward to becoming engrossed in re-rooting over the coming days and concentrating on completing the look I envisage for this doll. In the meantime, I wish everyone well, stay healthy and please show care for others around you as we endeavour to get through the uncertainty that surrounds us all at present.

  1. I remember you mentioned you had a Blythe collection. I love the colour you have in your mind, those are really nice shades of cyan, very rich and vibrant. Look forward to see how the re-root turns out. It can be quite therapeutic. I love re-rooting with yarn. Takes less yarn to re-root than saran (although I do have a EAH head I started re-rooting but is on pause with that).

    1. Thanks Alasse, as I said in my email, I shall call her Cyanide once she's done. I have a very clear picture of how I want her to look this time. Once I have finished the dress and re-root I want to re-paint her eye lids and do something with her face, but I need to see how her hair looks before I start.
I've aways used mohair curls for re-rooting before, so this Saran is going to be a first for me, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but as you say it's vey therapeutic and will keep my mind off other things. :)

  2. For some reason I'm always on the fence over whether I want a Blythe or a Pullip.
This one is pretty and I love that bluey greeny colour. Can't wait to see what you do with her

    1. Hi Rachael,
I've had both, but I feel these dolls, just like the Animators, have been a passing fancy for me. None of these have stuck with me like BJD's, my other play dolls and the few IT dolls in my collection.
I hope when she's complete she turns out as I'd like her, I think my biggest challenge will be creating her face.

      Grandes abrazos,

    1. Let's just hope the mood I'm currently in doesn't fall short and see the doll end up in the UFO box, along with so many other impulsive projects. I really want to finish this doll Barb, her image is haunting me, so keep your fingers crossed. :)

  6. Thank you Linda, I thought so too. I only have a pukifee that has this colour hair and she's always made me smile. Oh don't you worry now, I intend on having a great deal of fun with this doll.

    1. Thank you Brenda. I have always loved dolls with unusual coloured hair, so it was inevitable she would end up with a nonconventional colour.

    1. Muchas gracias Ilona, me alegra que pienses que es un color hermoso. Sí, todos estamos bien, simplemente nos quedamos en el interior y sólo nos aventuramos a pasear al perro. Espero que tú también estés bien.

    1. She certainly was Niina, and just what I needed to distract myself from what is happening in our world today. Though I never expected her head to take such a long time to re-root, but she has such a big head, so it's not quick like doing a Barbie. LOL!
