Fashion Friends Have Arrived

The two little girls arrived together last week and I was impressed by how pretty they looked. However, I was a little disappointed with their jointing. Sara's legs are quite loose and seem to go everywhere except where you want them, Maya's are much better and stay in place.

Hair is very fine and flyaway on Sara and quite frizzy on Maya, so I have ordered new wigs for them both, not knowing exactly the right size, I have a two different sizes coming and several styles (luckily my local supplier was having a sale).

Their clothes had Velcro closures except for Maya's jacket, so the dolls were stripped naked and re-dressed in the clothes I'd made for them. The sneakers that came with them were not badly made, although Sara's pair were both for the right foot! It's so typical of the lack of care given by the Chinese doll manufacturers.

I had one pair of flats in my stash which fitted Sara quite well, and another pair that also was the correct size, but with a higher heel, so not quite right for Maya.

Not being completely satisfied with either pair, I went browsing and found these gorgeous leather boots in this Etsy store. The soft creamy yellow and dusty mauve-pink will go with the outfits I have already knitted and the pretty mint ones will be saved for another Fashion Friend to be purchased at a future date to complete a trio.

One can clearly see these boots are beautifully made, and really worth every penny I spent on them. However, they are shipping from Russia, which means I will be waiting for ages for them to arrive, even though the seller posted them the very next day. Maybe I'll have my third Fashion Friend by the time they arrive. :)

My little Patience received a new outfit (I made her several other coordinating pieces not shown here) . . . both her top and coat are reversible, the capris are unlined and are trimmed with matching buttons on the side at the knee.

I also received my #2 Little Darling yesterday and now both my Little Darlings have also been redressed, but more on those wee ones next time. I hope you are all staying safe indoors and enjoying some time with your dolls.

  1. Oh, they're very cute! And they already have new outfits! You're very quick at making stuff, or maybe it's just that I work at such a slow pace. The shoes look nice and quite well made. And Patience looks lovely in her new outfit, I love coordinating pieces.
I was looking forward to be done with college to start working out more and taking dolly photos outdoors. Unfortunately, things are getting scary so we're probably going to stay home as much as possible. I did manage to get a few dolly photos outdors though.
You too, stay safe indoors. Hugs.

    1. Thank you too MC. I knitted the outfits while I was waiting for them to arrive, I'm fortunate I don't have college or work to deprive me of time (just a hubby). I enjoy making outfits that I can mix and match. This set was fun and relaxing to sew all by hand.
I don't take many photos outdoors, these were taken in our courtyard garden. Sometimes I think I should take my dolls over to the park when we walk our dog, but I never even think of it then.

      Grandes abrazos,

  3. I'm glad that you like the dolls, and they are adorable. I personally wouldn't want to have to put so much work into refurbishing them, for what they cost, but they look like they'll get great care at your house!

    1. I do like them Barb, especially their faces and I guess I don't even think of what I do as refurbishing. I simply enjoy bringing out a new personality in my dolls by changing them about a bit. However, I do see and understand your point of view though, they are not exactly an inexpensive doll.

  4. Congratulations, they are real cuties! But it's a shame about their joints, is there a way to fix it? Like hot glue, perhaps? It usually works well with bjds. The boots have a long way to go, but I hope they will arrive safely :). And Patience looks great in this outfit!

    1. Thanks Chiriann. Not sure if the hot glue works on vinyl, but I'm sure I'll think of something to overcome the problem. I'm always worried about things coming from countries that don't have tracking all the way, but I have had things arrive okay from Russia before, it just takes a long time. Patience is happy with her new clothes, so that makes me happy.

  5. Thank you Linda, I love both their faces, and I'm glad I decided to choose dolls which were originally sculpted by two different people.
I was so impressed by those shoes as soon as I saw them for that very reason, they really do look like human boots for sure. The colours are quite subtle and pretty, but I also like many of the other colours she has in her shop too. I may buy some for my other dolls down the track, I want to wait until I know how long they take to arrive.
    Big hugs,

  6. I love the fashion friends girls. They are really super cute. And the outfits and your shoe-find will look great together. I really like those mint-beige-berry ice cream colors, they are subdued and fresh at the same time.

    1. They seem to be quite photogenic too Mia. I have a feeling this shop is going to be my go to for footwear for many of my dolls. She does Paola Reina shoes too, just none in stock at present, but hopefully soon. She has a great range of leather colours, which is always a good thing when you like to have clothes and shoes matching. :)

    1. Thanks Niina. :) The shoes are finally on their way, they were shipped from Russia today, it took ten days from when I ordered them, it seems their post is just as slow as ours. I wonder how long the plane trip will take?? LOL!
