New Outfits for Little Darlings

It is a beautiful day here in Melbourne, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and we have had no local transmission of Covid for 15 days and I hope it continues this way. The only ones with the virus are those who have recently arrived from overseas and who are currently in hotel quarantine, which I hope is where they all stay until it's safe for them to be released (including the tennis players!).

I hope things are beginning to improve for those in the Northern Hemisphere now that the vaccinations are being done . . . until you get yours, take care & stay safe.

-oOo-

I took advantage of the good weather today to take a few photos of my Little Darlings in their new clothes. My #1 red haired little girl is Cassandra, and my #2 raven haired little girl has been renamed Anastasia.

It doesn't seem to make much difference how much I brush the hair out of their faces before a photo shoot, I always manage to find a stray in the wrong place when I crop my photos . . . it's so darn annoying!

And here are Sara and Maya with their new wigs. I love Sara in this short one especially. But I think both wigs make the dolls look younger, what do you think?

Well that's it for a now, I shall be taking a short break and I'll be back when I have some more dolly news to share, but in the meantime, I'll be keeping an eye on your blogs to see what you have to share. :)

  1. I personally don't mind if the dolls' hair isn't perfect, since it also happens in real life with humans. Your dolls look very cute in their new outfits! I also have a doll named Cassandra, but looks nothing like yours.

So good that your area hasn't had cases of Corona for a while. Here things are starting to get ugly, so Mr. Monster and I are going to self isolate for 15 days and just go out to the supermarket. He'll be working from home until mid February, because his company didn't want to wait until something happened to put their workers in quarantine. My sister-in-law is the only person that I know that has gotten the vaccine. She works in healthcare and has asthma, so she was in the priority group. I think I'll be in one of the last groups of people to get it, since I don't think I qualify for any risk factor group. Not complaining, I think they're doing it the right way.

I do understand not posting that often if you don't have much to talk about. Currently, I'm working on a new wainscot desing for my photos, so you can expect a blog post soon.

    Hugs.

    1. I don't mind either, it just annoys me when it's across their face when taking photos. I'd like to see your Cassandra some time.

We did the hard yards early so hopefully it will stay like this now.

Haha! I always have plenty to talk about, I just have to take a rest every now and then so I can get things done around here...that's also why I sometimes wish I could clone myself. :)

    1. Thank you, me too, but don't tell my dolls that!

  3. I view the vaccine with mild distrust since it was developed so quickly (it took Jonas Salk seven years to make a polio vaccine, for heaven's sake!), but it doesn't matter much since I'm non-essential. Essentials and seniors get priority here, if what I'm reading is correct. But that's neither here nor there. I love your dolls, and I must confess that I'm a little jealous because I'd don't have a Little Darling! Sara's short wig suits her.

    1. Well that was back in the 50's RM, I think science has come a long way since then and there were a lot more people concentrating on the development of the current vaccines, but you have the right to be cautious.

I waited a long time to get my first LD, and the second was pure luck...being in the right place at the right time and having the dolly money available to me then. Your turn will come. :)

  4. They could be siblings. Seeing the little darlings and the fashion friends together it's really obvious that they were made by the same artist. The outfits are adorable. And I like the short blonde wig a lot, but I actually think the wild curly hair Maya came with made her look more fun. The wig you put on her is pretty, but it looks kind of docile. I don't know if you understand what I mean, it just seems to go a bit against her character.

    1. Mm you could be right, though Maya was sculpted by Ruby Ho, the others all by Dianna. You possibly see Maya quite differently to me Mia, I wanted her to look more shy and retiring rather than the way she was.

  5. Ooh, they all look so lovely! New clothes and wigs are fantastic, and I cannot take my eyes from Anastasia, she's just dreamy!
Have great break and stay healthy! Hugs, hugs!

    1. Thank you Chiriann, I'm happy with them now, but I will be making more clothes for these dolls.
      I shall. :)

  6. Thank you Linda, I made the outfits a little while back, initially for my Minouche, but I like them on the LD's better. They are extremely photogenic, I actually think they photograph better than they look IRL, whereas with many dolls it seems to be the other way round.
I really wanted to change all their original personalities to ones that will fit better with my own story and I'm happy with all the wigs on both sets of dolls now. (Bloody hard to get the wigs off those FF's though!)
I think all the countries would have been better if they had closed their borders as soon as they found out about Covid, I know it helped us here in Australia. Even our State borders are closed as soon as their is any sign of it spreading. I feel we are so very lucky to be living here and not suffering like other places in the world.
Oh don't worry it won't be a long break, just need to get a few things done so they are not hanging over my head. :)

  7. Hello! Looking at your pretty doll with those sunny outfits, I sure wish it was Spring or early Summer here now. We have a lot of snow and it is so, so cold.
Could not stop smiling when I saw those small hair strays find their way to to dolls face. I had this problem too when I took some photos of my little dollies today. But who does not have some hair in ones way or face...Lol.
    Enjoy our little break!
    Hugs!

    1. Thank you Niina, I enjoyed sewing these outfits and I have a feeling I will make many more. :)
I guess it's only natural to have those stray hairs, but it doesn't mean I have to be happy with the darn things!! LOL!

    1. I do too Brenda and these dolls are just the right size to knit for! I also enjoy sewing for the LD's though it's not so easy to do in front of the TV as knitting is. :)
