More Knits Completed

I wanted to try to make a knitted dress that actually looked like two separate pieces . . . a pinafore with a sweater underneath, creating a similar look to this, without the pockets.

I thought I had enough scraps of pale pink wool to make the sweater part and enough hot pink for the pinafore, but when I finished knitting with the hot pink I realised it was going to be too short. So I had to finish the bottom of the skirt with the pale pink, I guess it doesn't look too bad, but it's not what I wanted.

I also finished a hat, but I thought a coat was now required to complete her outfit.

I didn't have a complete pattern for any of these, but I did have patterns for parts of each of them, which I mixed together to knit them. They actually fit my Fashion Friends a little better, but I already have outfits for them.

If and when I repeat this outfit for my Paola Reina dolls, I will make the straps on the dress a fraction wider and the sleeves on the coat a little shorter.

  1. Haha, this is so funny that you chose to make a pinafore as well. And for a moment I thought the first picture showed a doll and I was thinking WOW how lifelike... Lovely dresses!

    1. Yes, great minds and all that, haha. I didn't even think about that when I commented on your post Mia, probably because your were sewn. She would make a great model for doll though. 😉
      Thank you!

  3. Wow! This is great. I love how you just decide to make something and you do it. Then you think, "Oh, it needs a hat and coat." BOOM! It is done, and beautifully done at that! You are SO talented! I love seeing your creations.

  5. What a cute outfit, Xanadu! I've been doing quite a bit of knitting this winter, but not much doll stuff. I have a Barbie size sweater on the needles, though. It's giving me good experience in the m1 stitch!

  6. I love playing with patterns to create something a little bit different and this one's not bad for the prototype, but I shall give it another go. This time I shall make sure I have enough of the colour I need. 🤣
    Thank you Linda.
