I can't quite remember who's blog it was where I read they recently purchased this little bedroom suite from Ikea, but thank you so much for the inspiration. I purchased mine last night. It's perfect for PukiFees!
Beginning with a premade box (approximately 40cm long x 30cm wide x 15cm deep) from the Reject shop, I slit the brim of the lid either end of the long side using a Stanley knife. Then taped it to one long side of the box using clear packing tape.
The inner walls and the floor of the lid were covered with card cut to size. I plan on covering the long side of the box that you can just see under the bed with something that looks like timber, but I haven't found what I am looking for yet.
I want to add a window, a shelf, make a proper mattress for the bed and sew some pretty linen. The mat turns up a little at the corners, so I may even replace or re-edge that sometime in the future.

I have also been looking at this set online, it looks very nice!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see more of your diorama project, it's interesting to read how you make things! <3
It is Uraru, and I think better than the first set. I'll be working on the window tomorrow and maybe making a blind.

Sadly, there is no Ikea here or within any sort of driving range. I keep hearing you can get doll furniture from there but I wish they had something like that on their website or you could mail order it or something.
ReplyDeleteYours look great! I am glad to hear they work for Pukifee size. And thank you for sharing!
Yes, that's a bit of a bummer Alasse. The only stores in Qld are at Logan and North Lakes, which I believe are both suburbs of Brisbane, so yes a long way for you to go shopping.

Ah, I didn't know there were ones in Brisbane. Well, I have to go down to Brisbane sometime this year so I will make a note of those and make sure I pop in for a visit while I am down there. Thanks for that Xanadu!
DeleteI also nominated you for the Liebster Award tag here.
That is perfect! I saw it at our IKEA, too, but only the display one. I'll be going there again in about 10 days, I hope they have it again by then.
ReplyDeleteI hope you manage to get one Anja, they are quite well made and I'm sure you will love the set.

I just saw that new Ikea set for dolls, so awesome that they've made more! I need to go check it out ^^
ReplyDeleteHi Safir,
DeleteYeah, I am happy I have both sets now. Be careful at Ikea and stay focussed, it's very easy to come home with more than you need. :)

Looking great already S! I like those scrapbook papers with timber floor patterns, wood trimmed wall patterns etc which might work for you in a pinch until you find what you're looking for. I do wish I could get to Ikea because they often have good stuff for dolls - your comment to Alasse has brought the new North Lakes store to my attention though which is closer and way more convenient for me than the original QLD store so I hope I can stop in there soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks M. Still a ways to go. I have looked at some of the scrap booking sheets, but there wasn't what I wanted at our local store, they have a pretty dismal selection.
DeleteI guess we're pretty lucky where we are, Ikea is only a five minute drive, but it can also be a curse at times. We did manage to skip half the store and go straight to the kiddies section, but we couldn't avoid the other half getting to the ckeck out. :)

Oh this is so perfect! Wish there was an IKEA where I live!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how you will decorate it, since it fits perfectly with your dolls!
Thank you Musume. I will post more pics as I progress.

Hello Sandy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find. It is the perfect size and the design is lovely. Great pieces!
Big hug

Thanks Giac, I thought so too!

Hi Sandi!
ReplyDeleteFinally you have purchased this set! It fits perfectly with your dolls. I'll be looking forward you finish this new diorama.
By the way, it was in my Christmas gifts entry on my blog where you saw a pic of this set.
Greetings ^^
Hi Lily,
DeleteI knew I had seen on one the blogs I read, but just couldn't remember who's. Thanks for the heads up, I wouldn't have known about it if you hadn't posted about it. Thank you.

How adorable...that set is the perfect size! Lovely diorama...one of my goals for 2016 is to actually create some living spaces for my dolls instead of just buying more and more dolls, lol. Thanks for the inspiration. I am also glad I don't have an Ikea near me..our Target stores are bad enough! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Farrah Lily,
DeleteI have been wanting to make a diorama for my PukiFees for ages, but like a lot of things I want to do, I just never quite got round to as soon as I would have liked. It was this set that really got me going, sometimes we need something or someone to give us a little push. :)
Hope you have fun making yours, I will look forward to seeing it.

Pukifee size is so amazing, they can travel in your pocket and there's a million props out there for them!
ReplyDeleteThe bed set is lovely and you are doing a great job with that bedroom. LOVE the colors :D
Yes Alejandra, a great size, very versatile little blighters they are!
DeleteI see so many in pastel colours, which are lovely. But this furniture is bright and cheerful, just like carnival colours. So I think rather than paint it, I will go with it and make it really fun.

Very cute! I saw this set at our local Ikea and almost got it, but have got the lounge set and use it for my Elfdoll tinies, but think it would probably work just as well with the Puki Fees too.
ReplyDeleteAs for the wood effect you're looking for, have you looked for 'printable minis' because that is where I found some wood effect floorboards and some brick walls that I printed off, they worked very well in this scale. (I'm sure you've already looked but thought I'd mention just in case!)
Hugs Sharon in Spain x
Hi Sharon,
DeleteI have the original set too, but I think I like this one even better. :) The price for this furniture is very reasonable too.
The printables are really good I know, but I haven't had a chance to look at any yet. Will try and get some browsing done in the next couple of days, hopefully I will find something soon. Do you have any good sources you could recommend?
Hugs,

I hadn't seen that set before but you've made a really neat diorama with it. I would love to have some little room sets for my Pure Neemo girls but alas, it won't happen with two little kids in the house! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you GT!
DeleteHey everyone gets SOME quiet time, you just have to make the most of the time when they are sleeping. Mind you seeing you sitting there sewing in the early hours of the morning paints quite a picture. :)
Hugs,

That looks great! I love how that Ikea set mimics Ikea's actual kids furniture - it really does make for a perfect miniature!
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased to have found this set JS. I has turned out to be quite the Godsend. :)

Great to see your new room box
ReplyDeleteLong way to go yet C.
DeleteSo far so good! ~
ReplyDeleteThe furniture is just perfect for pukis~ :D
Yes Irene, I am getting their slowly. The sewing takes a little time though.
