Felt Distraction

I have always loved playing with textiles, I also like working with wool felt. It is so versatile and is perfect for making so many different projects, like these pin cushions.

These have been fun to make and a wonderful distraction while I wait for my dolls.

  2. That makes two of us! I like working with felt too. It's just a really nice and easy material to use. Although up here where I am, wool felt is hard to come by. I think they mostly sell acrylic felt here. Do you have any recommendations on where to purchase wool felt?

I love the pin cushions you made. Love the colours and design particularly that strawberry one. Those pins are pretty elaborate too!

    1. Hi Alasse,
We seem to be almost on the same track, you could try a local outlet ~
https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/MadAboutFeltAU They have a big range of colours and lots of options available for purchase.

The pin cushions are quite easy to make, the fruit is more fiddly. The hat pins are even simpler, I've made heaps of them over the years. :)

    2. P.S. If you want hand dyed try another Aussie supplier ~

    3. Thanks so much Xanadu for the links. I will have to place an order for some of that wool felt. I only got a small bit of a navy blue colour when Lincraft had it in stock for about a month a year or two ago but nothing since then and Spotlight only seem to carry acrylic felt. That's the problem with living in a regional area. We don't get many places locally to choose from to shop. It's the same thing with my beading supplies. There used to be a bead place here but it shut down a few years back so now we only have Lincraft and Spotlight unless we venture online and when I'm looking for beads to make doll jewellery, it's hard to tell how small it is online!

You made the pins? Wow that's pretty neat.

  3. Woow, you made those yourself?? They look so pretty! I have no talent for felting, I can only make a ball out of it at best, hahah XD Would love to see more of your felting projects~

    1. Thank you Alejandra. Were they the type that were made using cardboard to make the hat brim?
