Christmas at Our House

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break ~ whether you celebrate or not, whether it’s holy or just a holiday, I hope there was lots of love and laughter.

We rose early as Coco was keen to unwrap the presents "Santa" had left for him under the tree.

Christmas day was HOT in Melbourne and I didn't go outside until about 3 pm. Then there was a quick about turn to go back into our cool air-conditioned home . . . 38c was simply too hot for me to stay outside..

However, it was stress free, calm and quite with lots of food of course! Consuming prawns, crab, ham and various other delectables with four different salads, followed by mince pies and fruit cake, exploding is inevitable!! How on earth is one supposed to fit in Maggie Beer's duck and orange pate, bagelettes, nuts and other nibbles during the afternoon, when we have eaten so much for lunch? Let alone continue in the evening, eating steak, ginger and lime chicken and sausages cooked on the BBQ, followed by my daughter's four berry pavlova for dinner!

Needless to say we all gave it our best shot, but hubby and I will be eating leftovers at least until the new year rolls on in. :)

Here's some dolly pics to tide you over . . . my little Dasha . . . all the clothes came with her except for the cardigan in the last shot, which I made. I shall do a review of the Paola Reina dolls later, when I'm back in the groove.

This has been a good year full of dolly fun and friendship . . . thank you to all my readers and blogging buddies.

That's all from me in Melbourne Australia . . . I'll be back in 2017!

  1. Aww Coco looks so adorable opening the present from Santa!

Strangely when our Canadian friends were here, they thought it was super weird that we ate cold seafood. I told him given how hot our weather is here, having a hot lunch wasn't really a good idea here in the tropics!

Your little Dasha looks so pretty. I get this lovely old time classic vibe from her.

Happy New Year to you Xanadu! Hope this is a nice relaxing week for you. Take it easy. See you in 2017!

Thank you always for your friendship and support!

    1. Hi Alasse,
Coco was so funny, he knew exactly which presents were his . . . mind you he could tell most by the smell. :)

We haven't done traditional lunches or dinners for years, it's just not practical. Unless of course we had a winter chill and it snowed on Christmas day downunder. LOL!

I am completely enamoured with these little cuties, so you can expect more arrivals soon.

We are fully intending to enjoy our quiet time until 2017 arrives and we get back to "normal".

Thank you too Alasse, this really has been a good year for friendships!

  3. 38C oh my!!! Here we are getting closer to 36C nad I'm already dying. I'm okay with staying indoors (even though we don't have AC), but being in the sun makes me feel sick at the end of the day so I avoid it as much as I can. It's a shame really because I much prefer summer over winter as I love sunny days filled with light.

Seems you have a wonderful Christmas (Coco is the happier I bet). Having leftovers for a week is awesome though hahaha I love when that happens.

Your little Dasha is super cute, love the cardigan you made!!! I'd love to read your thoughts on the doll next year :D

And Happy new year for you!!! Hope you have a quiet and nice celebration and I wish you the best for next year~

Thank you for keeping blogging, I've enjoyed your posts so much this year.

    1. Like you Alejandra, I love the summer sunshine but when it gets past the mid 30's I tend to turn on the AC. Today it's very humid, they did say to expect thunderstorms, but I don't think that's going to happen.

Yes, we did, hope you did too!

Thank you, I really like these dolls even though they aren't articulated like the BJD's. They have lovely faces.

Not doing much NYE but will watch the fireworks on TV at year's end. What about you?
      Happy New year!

    1. Thank you Lily, we enjoy sharing Christmas with Coco, he really is part of our family. :)

I think these little Spanish dolls are really getting to me, I've ordered another one from PR and another in a similar size from D'Nenes. They are a great size to knit and sew for. :)

      Happy New year!

  5. Hello! <3
That is hot! Here we have the opposite weather. Up north it can be 40 degrees minus. Then you will freeze your butt off. But I prefer something in the middle - like Autumn.

And so much yummy food! Over here we eat a lot too. And keep on doing it for three bigger holidays. Then we do it again during Easter and Midsummer. Talk about traditions. But it is fun and it feels very good. Seems like you had a wonderful Christmas. Cute little dog! :) When I was younger, I had a dog and he was always happy to receive toys and dog candy for Christmas.

Congrats on getting Dasha home. She is adorable!

Enjoy the last days of this year and I wish you a Happy 2017. Hugs!

    1. Hi Niina,
Yes it is hot, but we coped and I do love summer. :)

I try not to eat too much, but every year ends up the same, I always purchase more food than we can actually eat . . . you'd think I would have learnt by now!!

Dasha and Nora are fitting in nicely, thank you.
      Here's to a wonderfuly 2017!

  7. Your Christmas food sounded wonderful Xanadu, I hope you managed to eat it all up before it went off in the heat! ;)
    (any excuse!)
Your little Dasha is very cute, I do like those Paola Reina dolls and glad to see someone is helping out the Spanish economy ;)
I look forward to hearing more about her here on your blog now that the New Year is here.

    1. He's very possessive with all his "STUFF" and sniffed his presents everyday they were under the tree, but didn't open a thing until Christmas morning.
