Did you know that dolls have shoe fetishes just like humans? Well it turns out Cassandra is one of those dolls. I recently ordered her one or two pairs of boots to go with the outfits I was knitting her and a few more in different colours for other dolls I have with similar sized feet . . . 10 pairs in total.
And, guess what? When they arrived today, she claimed the blooming lot!!
Now I have been given notice to make her outfits to match each pair. Who would have thought this pretty little girl would turn out to be such a bossy boots?
She is wearing the second outfit, but the blue cardi turned out a little larger than expected, even though it was knitted with the same brand of 4ply wool and to the same pattern as the pink cardi. Go figure! Anyway I am going to attempt to shrink it by felting the wool.
Oh and before you go . . . I caved already and have just purchased a Kaye Wiggs Mini Layla.

What a lovely outfit....and yes, it doesn't surprise me that dolls have shoe fetishes too....they can be very demanding!!

Thanks Sharon, I used Knit Picks Felici for both outfits. I guess dolls are much the same as their owners, well at least Cassandra is, I love shoes (and handbags). :)

Beautiful boots and the new dress is pretty. Strange that one cardi turned out a bit larger, have happened to me too. Made Zipporah one and thought Esther could have one too, in different color but same yarn. Do not know what went wrong - it was too big. Oh well, better try again!

With cost of postage these days, sometimes it's better to order a whole lot together. I think the yarn may have been slightly thicker even though it was 4ply, sometimes the dye makes a difference to the yarn as well, but what is done, is done, I'll have to try and make the best of it or knit another one! Perhaps it was the same with yours.

That is a very gorgeous selection of boots. I don't blame her for claiming them all. I wish they made human size ones! Love the colour of her little outfit. She's such a colourful little doll isn't she?

I think they do Alasse, (Dr.Martens) but unfortunately not in these lovely colours, but they have a lovely black patent pair. :) Don't know she will always be clothed this brightly, I was just experimenting with different wool.

I swear, back when I had Estelle, Charlotte and some of the other girls there were a serious shoe fetish! I had so many shoes. It's gonna be a bit tougher with MSDs since there isn't nearly as many pretty heels, but my wallet is grateful XD Good luck on the sales! I hope you will find new home for the dolls, so you can focus on new ones :)

DeleteEtsy has a good range of MSD shoes, but you have to hunt for them. :)
I guess they will go in time, just have to find the right Mummas.
