Consolidating

Over the past few days I have been mulling over the future of my blogs . . . and I have a few! However, I have decided to combine them all into one, so you will see much more of what I sew and knit for the many dolls I own, who will become my store models.

Hannah's two way jumper/cardigan and pinafore is AVAILABLE NOW!

I've also spent many hours, days even, looking for a platform to sell my dolls clothes that didn't sell mass manufactured merchandise, but there's really nothing. Both Etsy and eBay are now inundated with stuff from China. In the mean time, you can always contact me through the contact form on this blog if you see something you are interested in.

Now for some other news . . . Smug Mug has bought FlickR, so I have given them the flick and have decided to store all my photos on my own external hard drive, which I will have access to when ever I wish, without paying someone else for storage.

So there you have it in a nutshell, until next time, have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Big hugs,
X

Hi Xanadu, your sales page looks great on the new site! It's very good that there is an alternative for Etsy.
Hannah looks adorable in this combination :-).
I've given Flickr the flick too just now :-)!
    Enjoy the weekend, hugs!

    1. Thank you so much Linda, and I'm chuffed you like Hanna's outfit. :) I think it's only a small site at the moment but I have a feeling it will grow, but I hopefully it won't follow Etsy's footsteps.
I think there will be a lot more moving on too, it seems all the photo hosting sites are either charging fees or disappearing completely.
I shall, hope you do too :)

    1. Hi Giac,
Not just in my world, seems there are changes in all areas of the internet at the moment, but we just have to adapt I guess. Thank you for your good wishes, I hope so too. :)

  3. Hi Sandi, your new shop looks great, you have some pretty things for sale, I wish you well with this new location. I agree on Etsy, it's changed a lot, in fact they actually closed my shop when I didn't sign something or other so I no longer have a store on there at all. And I've not missed it! LOL
As for Flickr, well I don't know what to do with that, I've read all the gumph and think I'll leave it as it is for now. I don't pay any longer so maybe they'll kick me off after a while anyway, but I only store what I want to share on there, I keep all my other photos here on my laptop....my laptop really is just a massively full digital photo album LOL.
    Hugs xx

    1. Thank you so much Sharon. I think that was when I got huffy about introducing compulsory acceptance of credit cards, they must have lost a few shops over that. You are lucky you have a good client base and they are happy to buy from you directly.

It's not easy here in Australia being so far from everyone, the postage kills us. And there is not such a large doll collector market here either, but we will see, I know I won't make my fortune but as long as I sell a few every now and then I'll be happy. :)

You're probably right, as there are no free uploads on Smug Mug.

  4. It will be great to see much more of what you sew and knit for your dolls. I enjoy seeing those posts from you. It inspires me to actually try to sew.

Your new store looks really nice. I love how it is laid out and easy to see where everything is. Very user friendly.

I'm not sure what to do with my flickr either as I currently have some photos linked on DOA and can't find a suitable replacement site. I had a quick look at ipernity but no embedding photos to other sites unless you pay for it. Plus I remember now why I left ipernity a few years ago. The attitude of some of the photographers on there towards people who take photos of dolls was quite discouraging. So I'll end up closing the ipernity as well. The doll community there is pretty much non-existent anyway.

For now I just cleaned up my flickr and will only have a small handful of photos on there. I store everything on my harddrive anyway and only upload some of the photos I take to my blog, not all of them. Some I keep for myself. After the whole photobucket fiasco and losing a lot of photo links I had on forums, I still haven't found a photo site as a replacement. Frustrating. Glad I didn't choose flickr as a replacement though! Dodged a bullet there.

    1. Thank you Alasse. I thought the site was very user friendly from a seller's point of view too. I may even upgrade later when I have more items photographed to sell, they are most accommodating and flexible that way.

I will email you tomorrow regarding embedding photos, I have a suggestion that may help you, but I'm off to bed now.

  5. Hello! You shop looks so adorable and you work is so colorful and great. I am glad that Louise McCauley took that step and made something local. I am not so happy about the changes that is happening with Flickr and I have some big plans to leave some social media too. Can not keep up with the changes.
    Good luck with your shop!
    Hugs!

  7. I think to combine all in one blog is the smartest thing. I also have everything in one place. I tried to do different blogs or platforms, but in the end it is just overwhelming. Also I love to see all the different things you do and dolls you have - an yes Flickr, I am still skeptical but I still have my profile. We will see how this will develop.

    1. Yes I feel much less hassled now it's all in one, especially now that I have got rid of Flickr and Etsy.
