Project: Furniture 1:6 Scale (Part 2)

The three furniture packs which I ordered arrived very quickly, actually in three days by courier, and once again they were very well packed (twice in bubble wrap) so there was no chance of breakage.

I cannot tell you how happy I am to be dealing with an Australian company that provides such good service. The three kits only came to AU$63.80 including the shipping cost . . . I am very impressed. :)

After gluing them together, I gave them their first two coats of white paint. One tiny drawer was missing a side piece, so I emailed them. They were so apologetic and posted one to me the same day.

You can see the sofa from Part 1 in the background, still waiting for cushions. Next, I painted them all grey and ended up giving the couch another coat of grey, as the second batch of paint I mixed was slightly different to the first.

The mirrors were glued in once the painting is complete. I decided against using the provided knobs for the drawers and used pretty grey pearl beads.

Once I'd done the final sanding to give it the shabby chic look, and a good polish with a brown paper bag, I added the cushions (just noticed that one is back to front, I didn't realise the seam was showing).

The photos are not the best, I took them in a hurry. You will see them again in their proper setting later on, when hopefully I have more time.

Just so you can see the size, here's a quick snap of my new Poppy Parker.

Hope you are all having a productive week!
Big hugs,
X

  1. Isn't it great having such detailed doll furniture! There are several kit items like this for sale on Etsy, and I hope to pick up a few in 2019.

    1. Yes Barb, and I'm thinking of other ways to use them. The ones on Etsy are more expensive and shipping is a killer for us downunder!! These were purchased locally and were half the price. :)

    2. Yep, we definitely have different shopping issues. The kits I'm finding on Etsy are not bad in US dollars, though, so it should be easy for me to pick some up this year.

    1. Thank you Alejandra. I am going to order the wardrobe next, with hangers, but not to use in the traditional way. :)

The round cushion was really easy to make, when I get time I'll make another and do a tutorial for you. Now I have a big room to make.

    1. Oh I am pleased you like them. You know they do sell internationally, and your Euro buys more AU$'s down here!!
I think this colour will work well with everything else I have in mind.

  7. WOW well done! These furniture pieces are GORGEOUS! You've done a fantastic job with the painting and the cushions are just perfect. Polly Parker looks completely at home with her new dressing table and stool.
I wish things like this were available here too.

    1. Thanks so much Sharon, I'm still a bit iffy on the sanding, but it will do for now. I can always give it another coat of paint if I find I'm not liking it down the track. However, I am really pleased with the cushions, I think the scale looks right and the colours will fit in well with my room when it's done.

  8. I appreciate that you put Poppy in for scale. I had been wondering about that. You did such a great job and I adore your sofa. Did you find it easy to put together? And I am also loving the price too for everything. I think I will be going shopping today!

Everything looks really good. Even if you took the photos in a hurry, they still showed the beauty of these pieces.

    1. The sofa is perhaps a little low for her long legs, but it gets by. It was easy Alasse just a little fiddly, but it comes with directions and photos so you shouldn't have any problems. Just make sure you do a dry run putting all the pieces together before gluing.

Thanks, I will take better photos in the room box later.
