Project: Mid-Century Diorama (Pt 2)

For those who wanted to see the 1:6 scale ball chair, here it is. It arrived yesterday and when I took it out of the box, I was surprised how much bigger it was than I expected. But when you think about it, it needed to be that big to fit a doll body in it. :)

With adjustments made to the window so you can see the garden and moving it to the other wall.

And should your dolls want to cosy up, the ball chair will even fit two!

It took me a little time to figure out how the foam cushions sat in the ball, but figure it out I did. I think the three soft cushions that came with the set were much smaller than they really needed to be to support the doll/s back, so I will make some larger ones that will make posing the doll/s easier.

If you would like one of your own, you may still be lucky to find one on eBay, but I warn you, they are not going cheap . . . just type in Poppy Parker British Invasion Ball Chair into Google. :)
GOOD LUCK!

  1. Hi again! I love the diorama so far. I'm on a Facebook group focused on doll dioramas and someone turned a round fruits basket into a chair for dolls. It was kind of a garden version of this chair.
    Take care.

    1. Thanks Chiriann, yes very cosy. :) I was amazed at the size when I took it out of the box, it looked really huge, but in the setting it worked really well and I am so glad I splurged on it. I think it has great possibilities for my Integrity dolls.

    1. Thank you RM. I don't have quite as many PP's as some people I know, but she really is a lovely doll and I will probably add another down the track (with luck maybe even three). Keep your eye open on eBay, every now and then you can pick up one at a reasonable price and she would be a lovely addition to your collection.

  5. The ball chair is pretty awesome. I have two Poppy dolls sharing it in the display cabinet. I really love that wallpaper and the view outside behind the beaded curtain looks great. I am really loving this diorama of yours but then again, I adore this era.

    1. I agree Alasse, I'll probably do the same when I'm done playing. :) The fabric "wallpaper" comes in other colours and I'm thinking I may use it for another room. I'm really hooked on doing these at the moment, so I shall make the most of it.

  7. This is a great diorama Sandy and the chair is perfect for it. I like that the two girls can fit in to it for a cosy chat, but that it looks equally good with just the one occupant.
Well done on your find :)

    1. Thank Niina. I guess it is cosy, especially if you curled up inside with a book on a cold winter's night. I hope they are not too bright. :)
