Adopt a Koala

URGENT APPEAL: Across the country, over 8.4 million hectares of Australian land has been burned to the ground. That’s more than the Amazon and Californian fires combined. Over 900 million animals have lost their lives, and 480 million animals have been killed by fire in NSW alone, including thousands of koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, birds and other iconic wildlife. Your support is urgently needed to care for injured wildlife and restore their homes.

    1. Hi Joanna,
No doubt you'll be reading about this for quite some time, the fires have been burning now for several months. We lost another fire fighter overnight, he was 60 years old and had been part of the fire fighting network for 40 years, he leaves a wife, daughter and son.
      It is very sad. :(
      Big hugs,

  2. The whole situation is so horrific. Our beloved native wildlife is dying because of this. Thank you for the link. I had recently read about this organisation. The thought of our native animals becoming extinct breaks my heart.

    2. Ah thank you so much for the link. I had been trying to find a local one to donate to as there's a few international ones around. Have donated to WIRES.

    1. There are many like that Chiriann, not just koalas, kangaroos, echidna and wallabies, so even just a simple $5 donation will help . . . it all adds up.

    1. Thank you so much Mia. People do have insurance to help them recover and rebuild, but the animals have nothing and with their habitats burned to the ground, it will be a long time before those that survive will be able to return to their "homes", so every penny counts.

    1. Yes it is Lily, fortunately we had heavy rain yesterday and it's dampened things down a bit, thank heavens.
But now, "the NSW SES is urging residents in fire affected areas to take care as the risk of flash flooding, falling trees and landslips could increase as wet weather impacts the fire grounds".
If it's not one thing, it's another. I just hope things settle down and everyone can all look forward to a speedy recovery.
      Big hugs,
