I saw these dolls on a French site yesterday and thought how their faces reminded me of the Dianna Effner Little Darlings. However, these dolls are fully jointed, in stock and available for US$129.99 plus any relevant taxes/shipping, from their own website: Ruby Red Fashion Friends.
Little Darling #3 and RRFF Bella |
Now should you be lucky enough to live in USA, you can actually purchase them from F.A.O Schwarz for just US$100 plus any relevant taxes, but with FREE shipping on orders over $100. I don't know why there is such a big difference between the prices, but it really p****d me off because F.A.O don't offer international shipping!!
Bella has green eyes.
Sara has light blue eyes.
Hanna has deep brown eyes.
There's not a lot of information on the website, but their facebook page show them shipping from Nashville, Tennessee. The dolls are 14.5" tall, and articulated at the head, elbow, knee and hip. It doesn't tell you what they are made of, but reviewers have stated "flexible", so I am assuming vinyl.
If you get time check them out, they actually have a short fashion show on the website.
I am definitely going to check these out IMMEDIATELY! Their faces are awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou are a terrible enabler.
I know Rachael and it feels good to turn the tables on someone else for a change, it's usually the other way around. LOL! You'd be paying close on AU$200 by the time you add the expensive shipping!! I wish we could buy them here in Oz. :)
DeleteBig hugs,

So their Instagram confirms they are indeed vinyl. Also found lots of things that say they're actually sculpted by Dianna Effner, nothing official but I'm assuming it's true.
DeleteThanks for that info Rachael. I was my understanding the LD's were also supposed to be vinyl, but the vinyl is quite hard, almost like resin, I wonder if these dolls feel the same. I can see I'm going to have to buy one, the curiosity is killing me. DARN IT! So much for being good this year! Wonder if I can con hubby into purchasing it for my birthday??
DeleteLol I was just wondering if my hubby would get me one for my birthday!
DeleteGreat minds eh!
DeleteThese are adorable! I wonder what FAO Schwartz's deal is, not shipping internationally?
ReplyDeleteI don't know why they don't RM, but I have emailed them to find out! :)
DeleteThe US$29.99 difference works out to be AU$43.60 on today's exchange rate and it would be good to save that much if we could. :)
Big hugs,

Great dolls, but terrible prices. Hugs
ReplyDeleteIt's not the price of the doll that bugs me the most ZL, I'm not adverse to spending money on a doll that I love, it's the shipping costs to Australia and the fact there's such a big price difference between two different stores!
DeleteBig hugs,

I had already seen those dolls, and contemplated getting (more than) one. :) They do look like Maru and friends, but these have to be associated with Ruby Red Galleria because of the name, right? Also, these dolls can wear shoes for Ruby Red Galleria 15" Girls of the Orient shoes, according to the Happily Ever After doll store in Delaware, US, which is offering pre-orders on the dolls, but at $130 each!
ReplyDeletePerhaps you might try writing to Ruby Red Galleria, Xanadu, and asking them about the dolls? Perhaps Ruby Red Galleria is just testing the waters in the US market, and will be offering them later to other countries
Also checking in on the number of dolls in my house: I counted 156 in my bedroom alone, which is where most of my dolls are kept. That does not include the Barbie and family/friends dolls in our hobby room, nor a box of about 12 Barbies that Rachael sent me a while back. In my defense, many of these are 8" or smaller. :)
I think these are nicer Barb and the fact they are 9 way jointed is better than what Maru & Friends have to offer on their smaller Mini Pal doll. There's only 1c difference between the officlal website price and HEA in Delaware.
DeleteI may just do that, but I'm waiting to see if F.A.O answer my email first. :)
Well that's an awful lot of dolls, you must have a pretty large bedroom!! You are lucky you have the space to store them all, that's my biggest problem. Hubby is happy to see dolls in the doll room and even in the studio which we share, but I think he will draw the line if they begin infringing other areas of the house.
Big hugs,

Our bedroom is pretty large, considering it also has my sewing machine table and cutting table and other sewing stuff in there. Most of my doll collection is in two bookshelves, two cube units, and the tops of two dressers. Some of them are put away; I'm working on organizing to have more display room. Of course, I don't have a doll room. When the Dancer moves out, one of us will have her old bedroom as a hobby room, and one of us will get the current hobby room just for him/herself. But I am not in a hurry for the Dancer to move out.
DeleteOur bedroom is not large enough Barb, just fits in the bed, side tables, dressing table and a chair. My doll room is a third bedroom, which I took over after my daughter grew up and made her own way in life. So I guess that's what you'll do when the time is right, then you can really go to town! Perhaps I should stop making dioramas, they take up a lot of room too, but I enjoy making them . . . Catch 22. :)
DeleteThey are beautiful dolls and I have never heard of them! I'll have to check out their website as well. Ugh, so sorry that FAO Schwarts doesn't do international shipping...seems like they would sell so many more if they opened up that option!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't either Farrah until I saw them the other day. Yes, I agree, I don't understand some companies. I did email them yesterday, but haven't heard anything back.
DeleteBig hugs,

I like them all Linda, but as I prefer red haired dolls I will probably get Bella, I also love her boots! I'll have to start dropping a few hints first. LOL!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,

Those dolls look very nice, and the hair seems to be good quality. I like the fact that they have a modern look rather than classic clothes. Sara's shoes remind me of the Vans mid pro.
ReplyDeleteI do understand the frustration about the international shipping, I've been there. I do think FAO is big enough to offer international shipping options. I would follow Barb's advice and contact the company. Maybe you can find another retailer that gives you better options.
Take care.
If and when I manage to bring one home MC, I'll do a review. Yes, I can see the likeness to Vans.
DeleteI emailed F.A.O the other day, but they have not replied, so I guess they are not interested in international business. A UK option is looking pretty good at present.

Oooh, they look really nice! I'm not the biggest fan of child-like dollies, but these have that "something" in them - especially the smiles, they look so real and natural! Great find!
ReplyDeleteHi Chiriann!
DeleteDianna Effner sculpts all seem to have that quality about them, it doesn't matter if you find one in porcelain or vinyl, she has a knack of capturing their child like innocence that tends to pull at ones heartstrings. So even though they are not the type of doll you prefer, I'm not surprised they moved you too. :)
Big hugs,
X
Indeed! I wouldn't buy one for myself, but if someone would give me one of those beauties, I would be definitely delighted ;)!
DeleteMe too! But the only one who buys me dolls is hubby. :)
DeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteThese dolls look adorable and it is a huge plus that they are jointed. I do like those joints. Need to visit the sites!
Hugs!
Hi Niina!
DeleteI thought you might like these dolls and it is a huge plus for sure, vinyl dolls of this size don't often have so many joints. Have fun looking. :)
Big hugs,

Blimey, I wrote this comment three times and lost it for some reason!!! OK, where was I? Oh yes, I was saying that I nearly bought one of these dolls last week from an online doll shop in France and then decided against it because I don't want to get back where I was before, overwhelmed with so many dolls. However, if I did get one in the future, then I would buy with a view to customising it because I saw one on a French blog that I follow and she was so cute! Here is the link:

They certainly are very tempting with their jointed bodies. It's one thing I don't like about the Little Darlings, how stiff and wooden they are with their minimally jointed vinyl bodies.
Big hugs xxx
That happend to me the other day while writing to Alasse . . . it's so darn frustrating.
DeleteOMG Sharon, I cannot believe we are so much on the same wave-length, that's exactly the same website I was speaking about. I love what she did and that last close up photo of her doll is really gorgeous. I also purchased some patterns from her Etsy store, I can't be bothered drafting patterns myself anymore, it's too time consuming.
That's the main reason that I didn't buy any more Little Darlings (and the price of course, way too exensive for a small vinyl doll).
Big hugs,
X
Their faces really are so darn cute. And I am loving the clothes they come with ... they kind of remind me a little of Punky Brewster for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI really like them Alasse, but they will have to wait for now. Can't say I ever watched the show, probably the wrong era for me. :)
