A Long Search is Over

I have been looking for a Tonner/Effanbee Patsy for quite some time, years in fact, but they are pretty scarce, like hens teeth! When I have, on rare occasions, had the luck to find one, I haven't had the dolly funds available and when I have had the funds, there either hasn't been any available for me to purchase, or none that I loved enough to warrant spending the money on shipping from the USA. Until today . . . now there are two on their way. :)

Of course this all had to happen not long after I said the famous words "I have no plans for any additions this year". Now we are only just a week into February and I've already purchased four new dolls.

-oOo-

The first little girl is a new 2013 Tonner/Effanbee Patsy Basic #5 with a black saran wig, hand-painted facial details, made from a combination of fine quality vinyl and hard plastic. She has a new Patsy head sculpt, 10″ bended knee child body in the cameo skin tone. Her lovely blue eyes are inset with applied eyelashes.

This Patsy is an open edition, dressed in pink and white polka dot top over bloomers with white lace trim and attached ribbon belt, white socks, hair bow and faux leather shoes.

The second one, is a new 2015 Lacy Summer Day Patsy also by Tonner/Effanbee. She has the Patsy head sculpt on an Ann Estelle body in the cameo skin tone. Her body is articulated at neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and knees, which means she's almost as good as a BJD at posing. A classic blonde saran wig adorns her head along with two pretty pink bows, she has blue inset eyes with applied eyelashes and is limited to 500 world.wide.

Lacy wears a white stripe cotton dress with cotton lace trim and embroidered heart on the bodice completed with a pink ribbon belt. She has pretty white lace socks, cotton undies and faux leather shoes. Her companion, a tan bunny (not shown) comes with her.

  1. Beautiful dolls, but their eyes scare me a little. For now, I'm going without puppet purchases, we'll see how long. Hugs.

    1. Thank you ZL. Their eyes are very large, which makes them look that way (especially the blonde girl). I will probably change them if it bothers me too much, but I want to see them IRL before making that decision. Well I hope you are better at not making any purchases than me. LOL!

  2. Awww, good ol' Patsy! That's good that she has the Ann Estelle body; that'll open up a ton of clothing options. That little blonde might make a good crony for your ball-jointed dolls, seeing as she'll move like them.

    1. A much different looking doll to the original ol' Patsy of days gone by RM, but it's this style of Patsy that I really love. I haven't got an Ann Estelle in my collection, but I figure there are bound to be some dolly clothes in my stash that will fit Patsy, if not I'll just have to make (or buy) some. Yes, she will probably make a great friend for my LittleFees. :)

  3. DollsDolour has left a new comment on your post "A Long Search is Over":

Hello! Those adorable faces! I have always had a thing for big eyes. Both girls are very pretty and I like their outfits! Hope that you do not have to wait too long for them to arrive!
It did not take me so long either to buy something new. Some dolls can not be left on the shelf! :)
    Hugs!

    1. So sorry Niina, somehow I deleted your comment by accident, fortunately I had the email to copy.

I think the large eyes are fine most times, and these do look a little oversized in their photos, but I think they were meant to be that way so as to give them a much younger appearance. I hope so too, but it can take a week or more sometimes just to get on an international flight out of the USA. :(

Congratulations! Yes, I know exactly what you're saying. LOL!

  4. Thank you Linda. These are my first Tonner dolls and I am so pleased to have found them at last . . . and in a doll store, would you believe? And at the original release prices. :) When I received the shipping quote, there was only $4 difference between shipping one doll and the two, hence the double purchase, it's a darn nice feeling to have saved $56 on Priority Shipping.
Yes, I think I should just shut my mouth and get on with it. LOL!

  5. Congratulations! I never liked the eyes on the Patsy dolls either, which is why the only one I own has new eyes. Poor thing needs a wig though. If you go to my website and search for Patsy, you'll find a lot of posts I wrote about my Patsy doll and the Ann Estelle body in general. Is this your first experience with this body type?

    1. Thanks Barb. I think it's the size of the iris, I have seen a few Patsy's where the eyes have been changed to a smaller iris and they look great. Sure I will pop over and take a peek shortly. Yes, I have a few other dolls with similar joints, but this will be my first Ann Estelle body.

  6. Ha ha, such words just provoke the fate to proove something completely different :). Congratulations on your new girls, they are beautiful! Such serious faces, but I really like them, especially the first one (a shame that her arms aren't articulated). I wonder how will they look in different wigs?

    1. You think, after all these years of collecting, I would have learnt to keep those thoughts to myself. You are right Chiriann, one shouldn't tempt fate. LOL! Thank you, I don't think the lack of articulation in the arms will be too much of a problem though, and they do look quite different in other wigs, though I'm keeping the black one as is. Not too sure about Lacy, I may give her blonde curls.

  7. These dolls have really nice faces. I like that they have inset (is that what you call it?) eyes. There is a certain type of charm to eyes like those. I'm glad you were able to find one! It sounds like they are very difficult to get.

    1. Thanks Alasse, yes they are inset eyes. Not just one, I managed to obtain two from the same store, the last two they had in stock! :) Best part was, there was no crazy mark up on their origiinal prices!

  8. Heehee you're too naughty!!! I love it! A girl after my own heart!
I like these dolls and many years ago I wanted the boy called....I think it was Michael, he was cute and came wearing a grey school uniform if I remember rightly.
The only thing I didn't like were the knee joints, and that has stopped me from buying many different dolls....tiny Betsy McCall is another doll who's knees didn't please me so she never came here...I obviously have a knee fetish!
I hope you will enjoy your new additions :)
    Big hugs xxx

    1. Oh I know Sharon, but I just cannot help myself! LOL!
I'm not a real fan of the joints myself, but they do make it easier to pose the dolls when taking photos and once they are dressed the joints are not noticiable. I have a tiny Betsy McCall, she's been here over year now. My fetish is hands. :)
I think I will, but the waiting is killing me. :( Don't know why I should be used to it by now.

    1. Thanks Farrah. Yes, but I missed them when they were first released and then could only find on the secondary market for marked up prices . . . until I discovered these new (old stock) dolls in a store at the RRP! They were meant to be mine for sure! LOL!
      You too! Big hugs,

    1. Yeah, I know Joanna, you would think after all these years I would know not to say those words. :) It seems no matter how many dolls one has, or the limits we set ourselves, there is always another doll out there in the great dolly universe that garners our attention and love. Thank you.
