While staying with this friend, we spent some time sitting on her verandah admiring her pretty garden and chatting about how things are different in the country compared with the city. We also talked about the animals on her farm and how loudly the frogs in her dam croaked at night, when she asked me,
"Have you noticed how they quieten down after you go to bed and turn out the light?"
"I think you must drop off to sleep very quickly,
because I could still hear them croaking long after we had gone to bed."
No more was said about the frogs and we went inside to make ourselves a cuppa.
It wasn't until a couple of days later, and quite out of the blue, she said to me,
"I just realised why those frogs don't croak after I turn out the light,
I take my hearing aids out before I go to sleep!"
I take my hearing aids out before I go to sleep!"
Needless to say, I couldn't help smiling. Hope you all have a wonderful week, stay safe and keep on keeping on!
Yes, this story made me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteStay safe!
I'm pleased :) I hope you are staying safe too Joanna.

Hehehe, that was an amusing conversation! I am not really a frog person to be honest but I don't mind the green frogs. I try and make sure they have water. It's the cane toads I hate. And I love the photo you chose for this post. It's such a neat photo of a green frog.
ReplyDeleteOooha! I don't like toads at all, but the little green frogs are kind of cute. I'm glad it amused you.

What a funny story and beautiful photo.
ReplyDeleteWhen i was a child i read a book where was Grandpa with hearing aid mounted on his glasses. And there was a lot of funny misunderstanding, and there was funny sentence which ia a proverb in our family: Give Grandpa glasses because he can't hear you
Thank you BB. Yes, I can see the funny side of that story too! :)

Sí, creo que necesitamos cosas que nos hagan sonreír de vez en cuando, esto es especialmente cierto ahora.

Such a shame, I almost belived that you have such well-behaved frogs ;)! I love the story, it really made me smile... Have great week!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! No chance Chiriann, I think frogs will always croak. I'm glad you enjoyed the funny side.

Yes, but it took a couple of days for her to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteIt really cracked me up at the time. :)

Hi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteThat story is fun, it could be nice from the frogs if they stop croak when people go to sleep XD
Beautiful frog in the photo, I find these animals very cute.
Greetings ^^
Hi Lily,
DeleteWell it's a true one. :) I don't think I would really like them to stop croaking, but if they could quieten down in the evening, it would be good. Yes, for a frog he's quite handsome, maybe he's really a prince. LOL!
Big hugs,

That is a very sweet story Sandi!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a lovely frog in that photo, I love frogs and toads.
Big hugs and take care of yourself.
xx
Sometimes real life can be quite funny. I don't mind frogs, but not toads, especially not cane toads, they are really ugly. UGH!
