Shadow Figures is a doll from the Evangeline Ghastly line which was produced by Wilde Imagination in 2015. The limited edition of 350 retailed at US$219.
This doll features the Evangeline Ghastly head, with inset amber eyes, applied eyelashes and mink rooted hair with sandy blonde highlights and ruby lips.
Her body is hard plastic with articulated elbows, wrists, knees and ankles.
These are Tonner photos, but my gal is looking pretty good too! I will post photos of her when she has arrived. I am hoping to repaint the inner part of her eyeliner without removing all of the original face paint.
Dressed an airy chiffon sleeved cape featuring a collar of lace bejeweled with white faux pearls, golden cut crystal beads and sequins.
The cape is complimented by a matching chiffon bodice and flowing skirt.
Underneath the chiffon, she wears a pair of glittering gold and white sequined pants. and gleaming gold peep-toe heels.
Although I like the colour and fabrics used in her gown, I would like to revamp her costume a little.

I am not fond of the cape as it is. The beading is far to heavy and tends to swamp her neck, and the front of the cape doesn't drape as well as I'd like it to. I'll probably remove the cape altogether, and providing I can find the right fabric, make her one that allows the rest of her costume to shine through.
She looks kind of spooky, Xanadu! Will you get her dolled up for Halloween?
ReplyDeleteI guess she does, but isn't Evangeline supposed to look a little spooky? That kinda depends on whether she arrives in good time Barb. :) I guess we will have to just wait and see. :)

That repaint is lovely! I hope you can get yours to look similar. The factory paint is a little heavy.
ReplyDeleteI really like the colour of her outfit but you're right, it doesn't drape right, maybe because of the scale? The hem might be making it too bulky to flow.
I don't know who did the repaint Rachael, but she certainly looks much better. :)
DeleteI'm not sure what it is about the cape exactly, I just know it doesn't look right . . . I guess I will find out when she arrives and I can have a good look at her costume.
Big hugs,

The first thing that caught my eye Linda, was her hair, it reminded me so much of Lily Munster (do you remember The Munsters?) but I knew the eye liner needed to change. When you look at the repaint, you can see how much nicer she looks with her neck visible and the hair brushed back just a little. I know how I'd like her to look and hope I can do her justice. :)
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,

Ohh that repaint is gorgeous! I actually like her cape, butnot the way it drapes, I wonder how would you fix that????
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do with her, she looks evry unique
I saw the repaint before I bought her Alejandra, had I not seen it, I may not have added her to my collection. I won't be changing her whole face though, just the eyeliner and the only thing I liked about the cape (apart from the colour) was the sleeves so it has to go. :)

Ah... it was Lily Munster.. And I was wondering where I had seen this before. Does she actually have such a long neck or does it just look like that because of the beads?
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha! I think she has a normal Evangeline neck Mia (see the repaint) but I just don't think all the heavy beading does the outfit justice at all . . . reminds me of those African women with all the rings around their necks, in which case the cape might be have been suitable if she was actually African.

She's beautiful, but looks much better after the repaint, her company face-up is tad too heavy. I also love the hair, very unnusual. Congratulations! She will be lovely add to your collection :)!
ReplyDeleteI agree Chiriann, well now I have the three girls I am happy. Thank you! Now I just need to find a couple of Ellowyne friends. :)

Hola Xanadu, el repintado está muy bonito, estoy deseando ver cómo te queda.
ReplyDeleteBesos
Gracias Maribel, espero que el mío se vea igual de bien. :)

I love this doll! The Evangeline Ghastly line was quite appealing to me, but back then I was broke as a joke and I just could afford Monster High dolls. I do like dolls that have a dark or spooky theme to them, they have something that fascinates me.
ReplyDeleteHope your new gal arrives soon and you get to share lots of photos with us.
Me too MC, but I see she has even more possibilities than what is showing here. :) Perhaps you will find one you can afford now, there are some going at reasonable prices if you keep your eye on eBay. I know what you mean, I think all of us have a little dark side in us that is drawn to these dolls.
DeleteEvery week I say, maybe there will be an arrival soon, but I'm still waiting. GRR! Can't do anything about it though, I just have to be patient.
Big hugs,

She does look different, but in a good way! Love her outfit but I can see what you mean with the heavy beading. The color is soft and nice to her bold face and hair. The repaint looks a bit softer. Look forward to seeing her all dolled up by you!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Yes she is a little spooky, but as you say Niina in a good way. I like the eyes on the repaint, and I'll do my best to make hers look as good, but I shan't be changing anything else as I love her ruby lips. :) Thank you.

I'm really into Evangelines. I think they are really special. Congratulations on getting yours!
ReplyDeleteI know, I have seen your Evangeline's on your blog Joanna and you have made some lovely dresses for them too! The photo of your Victorian ladies is one of my favourites. Do you just have the four or are there more? I wouldn't mind getting a few more, but I think I will just try and complete a set of the different dolls in the series for now.
DeleteThanks and big hugs,

This one looks so so beautiful. The face, the outfit. I love the style and design of it. But I do see what you mean about the beading. Maybe smaller more delicate beading for such a thin neck. She is an amazing looking doll though. I can see why you got her.
ReplyDeleteI think once I change the cape and re-do the eyeliner she will look even more stunning and more like Lily Munster. :) I had read somewhere she was inspired by the Addams Family, but this is not so. According to Tonner's book, Joe Petrollese incorporated Barbra Streisand's hands in her design, with a little bit of "The Munsters" thrown in for humour. I loved both these show, but Lily was my favourite of the two women.
