Diorama Progress

It's been a little while since I last posted and I am aware I have been slack in replying to all your comments, for this I apologise. At this late stage I probably won't get round to it, but I thank you for them and for continuing to drop by.

I have finally found a few moments to take photos of my diorama progress so far, though they are not the best. However, they will give you an idea of what I have been doing so far . . . and there's so much more to come.

This is the gold room, with a salmon coloured carpet which I have decided to use with another room in future. I am also working on a small half round side table with a pink marble top to go under the back window.

I'm happier with this carpet, though it's only made of paper as a test run. I will re-print it on fabric at a later date.

I still need to re-paint the skirting boards so they are nice and white like the window frames. I am really happy with the marble floor though. The gold and grey furniture is available in raw form from Fairy Meadow Miniatures.

With the room box walls reversed and the grey furniture which will eventually be used in my Fleur & Ruben diorama. The ice mint furniture below, was made from kits I purchased from Etsy (sorry I cannot remember the name of the store). The carpet is also made of paper, and which I will re-print on fabric.

You can see more clearly the garden scenes I have used outside the windows. I made these by using photos of gardens I found on the internet, printing them out on A4 paper then gluing it to crocodile board. Hubby made me wooden stands to slot them in, which is great, because I can change them as I need.

My models were my Kurhn Fashion Week Sweet Lolita and my Integrity Toys Poppy Parker™ Gardens of Versailles. Well that's it for today my lovelies.

  1. Your room boxes look so elegant, Xanadu! And your husband got to be involved in your room box progress. :) All of the colors that you picked work so well together.

I like your Kurhn doll. I wish they weren't so hard to find. I arrived late to the game in being interested in them.

    Hugs

    1. Thank you so much Barb, isn't it amazing how only one room box with reversing walls can appear as so many rooms? I love having this set and now that I know I can purchase single walls, I am going to add another wall so I can make a kitchen. (Hubby is buying me the kitchen units for Christmas.)

The Kurhn dolls are quite good for the price, but I really only purchased this one because I was curious, I don't think I will be adding others. You can find them on eBay, mine was available in Australia, but I'm sure you should find one closer to you. Good luck hunting! :)

  2. Everything you make, looks so opulent. It's fantastic. It looks really well thought out.
What's the quality like on Kurhn? I keep nearly buying one, then deciding not to, then nearly buying one, then changing my mind, because I'm very curious but don't know if I actually want one.

    1. You are so kind Rachael. It's not really opulent, just simple things put together after a lot of thought and a few minor mistakes rectified. :)

Well she's plastic and has interchangeable hands etc., her clothes aren't badly made, but have Velcro (which you know I hate), she has sound jointing and she poses fairly well. Her screened face is nicely done and her hair is quite soft, but was flattened at the back from being in the box. My set included another outfit and a stand, in shoes she's 11.5" tall, so I think they are not bad value for money.

  3. This looks fabulous! For what I understood, what you do is make a different design in each side of the wall and turn them around. I've had a similar idea for my "mix and match" backgrounds in order to make a corner room. I like the idea of using a free standing board for the outdoor scene, as it will easily allow you to change the outdoor scene.
Don't worry about the comments, as it's sometimes hard to keep up with them when you're busy, specially when you have several blogs.
Wish you a great weekend ahead.

    1. Thank you MC. Yes, you understood perfectly what I was doing. I find it so much easier than having to build several different room and having to find somewhere to store them. :) I say go for it, and just have fun.
I hope you have a wonderful week too, hopefully without too much study.

  4. That roombox is pretty and elegant indeed! I have used the trick of printing an image for the window several times, and it works like a charm!

    1. Thank you Chiriann, the big armchair is great . . . almost like a throne. LOL! Give it a little time, I'm sure the Kurhn dolls will make their way to Europe soon. :)

  6. It's so funny, just after I finished a post mentioning Kurhn dolls I come over here and see- a Kurhn. She is lovely, and your diorama looks fantastic. Very feminine rooms, and I am a fan of white furniture.

    1. Hi Mia,
Haven't got to your blog yet, but I will. I'm warming to her more and more and now that I have decided to team her up with Hatsuko I think she will be a keeper. Thank you, I haven't painted any white furniture yet, but I will do when my kitchen arrives. :)

    2. oops, my bad. I saw the grey set as "white" furniture. You wrote it was grey, but at the time I wrote the comment I already forgot.

  7. Love your Kurhn doll! Such a cutie! And the diorama is looking just great! The colors are beautiful and nice idea with the printed garden photos. I have been collecting pictures from magazines that can be used as scenes outside a window. Hope to get to use them. If not as a window, then as an envelope! :)
Have a wonderful new week! Hugs!

    1. Thank you Niina, I had a feeling she would appeal to you, she certainly would fit in well with your own collection. :) I am so pleased you like the diorama. Pictures/photos come in handy for lots of things and there's such an array of them on the internet to choose from.
Have a happy week and stay safe!

    1. Thanks Alasse. I am having so much fun with this one, it's so easy to switch about.

Just received my kitchen yesterday, but I have been given strict instructions not to open the parcels until Christmas. He gift wrapped it and put it in his wardrobe. :)

Still I can work on the extra wall that arrived in the meantime.

    1. Thank you so much Joanna. :) I'm finding it works so well when you have limited space, don't know why someone didn't come up with this before now.
