Cockatoos 'n' Sunflowers

Sharon asked to see my friendly cockatoos, so here they are ~

Checking to see if we are out of bed.

Eating their breakfast.

Full tummies.

The cockies will eat the seeds from these sunflower heads when they've finished flowering
and have been left to dry.

  1. Hello!
Oh, cockatoos! Such a beautiful bird! I met one (when I was a teenager) at a little pet shop, when my friend worked there. The cockatoo was the shop owner's pet and the bird was talkative nice friend, sitting on the owners shoulder or something else in the shop. Almost lived at the shop for two reasons, my friend and this cockatoo!
Lovely to see your friendly cockatoos and the sunflowers!
    Hugs!

    1. Hi Niina,
I'm pleased you enjoyed seeing them.

This family drop by in the morning around breakfast time and sit on my gutter or on the water tank until we feed them . . . they are very noisy! When they have finished, they knock the feeding tin off the water tank as if to say "more please". The first tin we had got so dented, it ended up with holes in it, that's why the tin has a string on it now. :)
      Big hugs,

  2. Cockatoos always look like their feathers would be so soft. We have Lorikeets here a lot. They love all the native plants and trees in our yard.

  3. Oh my goodness Sandi, I only just saw this....been a bit behind with reading blogs this week as I’ve been mega busy.....thank you so much for sharing these gorgeous birds with us! I’m such a big fan if parrots, just love them and seeing these beautiful birds in the wild is just amazing. Do you find that some people don’t like them because they eat seeds etc? I ask because a friend of mine used to have black Cockatoos where she lived in Perth and said that they were often seen as a nuisance! I just cannot imagine being anything but fascinated and delighted to see 5em though!
Thanks so much once again for showing the photos for me!!!!
    Big hugs xxx

Not a problem, I'm a bit that way myself. :) I think they maybe a problem for farmers, but I love having them around, they have personality and can be quite demanding when it comes to tucker time! LOL!

  4. Hi Sandi!

How beautifull cockatoos are. Here we have monk parakeets and although they're originally from South America, is very easy to find them in my town, Barcelona and other close cities. These birds are really cute.

    Greetings ^^

    1. Hi Lily,
You must post some photos of the monk parakeets when you have time, I don't think I have ever seen them.

They are a lovely bird. No they don't sing, but they do make one hell of a racket when they want to be fed! LOL!

Do you still have your wee doggie too ?
We have our cats - I can't imagine a life with no pets but they do require a bit of work at times ^_^ xx

    1. Characters is right Carolyn, they are quite bossy though. Oh yes, he barks at the birds when they come down, after all he things the whole garden belongs to him alone. :)
Neither can I, pets can cheer you up when nothing else can. I wouldn't be without my little feller, he constantly makes me smile. Guess it would be the same for you with the puddies.
