What a Shamozzle!!

This how she looked
when I opened the box
Remember this post, about my last purchase for 2020 which I finished by saying " She is a doll who will surely test my patience as she throws my dolly world into disarray!"?

Well she certainly did, or should I say The Doll Peddlar did!! I didn't get the Wilde Imagination Springtime Patience which I ordered, but received the Phyn & Aero Just Have Patience instead (the one I had decided against).

She wasn't tied in properly either, her shoes were just loose in the box and her dress was crushed.

I contacted them and they were keen to let me know although the doll was not what I ordered, it was worth another US$15 more than I paid, which I suppose was to make me feel grateful.

To be absolutely honest, I really don't mind the doll itself, but I don't like the outfit at all and her hair was so tacky. Now I'm not sure if it was added gunk or glue seepage and was surprised to find her hair was not rooted, nor a wig, but a glued on weft.

Anyway, after cutting off the flowers which were stitched to her head and removing her hair ribbon, I shampooed and conditioned her hair to see how it looked after drying naturally.

I also removed her dress and thought the slip and nickers were nice enough even though the silk of the slip was quite different in colour from the attached cotton lace. I didn't particularly like the stockings either, seeing as they had stretched so much that they extended a good inch and a half pass the tip of her toes.

Normally I love Tonner clothes, but the outfit she came in just looked cheap and nasty. Where before Tonner clothes had proper press-stud (snap) closures this had that horrible Velcro.

Had I known all this beforehand I would have made sure she had something special to wear when she arrived, but as it stands (see above left), I have made do with a dress I had on hand and funnily enough it's inspired me to give her a layered look, I just need to knit or sew her a long coatigan to go over the top and I think she'll pass. :)

  1. Wow, you're such an active blogger that it's getting hard for me to keep up. I don't know how I would feel if I received a different doll than the one I ordered, regardless of her price point. I think you did a good job fixing her. She looks very beautiful in her new outfit, and that pose is so lovely.
Wish you a great rest of the week.

    1. Sorry MC, hopefully now you're not in college you won't find it quite so difficult. :) I seem to blog in fits and starts really, sometimes it can be weeks between posts, just depends on what's happening in my life.
I'm pleased you think she looks beautiful now, she's a great poser and I think I shall enjoy her even though she's not the one I ordered.
You too and don't let me stress you, just drop by when you can.
      Big hugs,

  2. Poor Patience! That's no way to for a vendor to treat a little dolly! You left negative feedback, I hope.

    1. No it's not RM, they just said she must have had a rough journey, but I have received a lot (and I mean a real lot) of dolls from the USA and UK and I have never had a doll arrive like this before. I mean how do bows become undone by shaking, REALLY!! They must think I came down in the last shower!
Well I certainly didn't leave them a glowing reference. Hahaha!

  3. Some people don't realise exactly how much business they miss out on by treating their customers badly, then they wonder what happened when their business fails. I think they simply get what they deserve. I mean it doesn't cost anything to be nice to people, does it?
Thank you Linda, I adore those eyes and hubby was completely fascinated by them, especially when he saw they could go cross-eyed! LOL!

  4. This is a very nice looking "make do". She looks much better after your make over, and her sideways glance seems to change her facial expression completely. She's adorable now!

    1. Thank you Mia, that is very kind of you. :) Her eyes move in different directions depending on how her head is placed, I can see she is going to be a fun doll to play with.

  5. Hello!
Talk about a bummer when things like this happen. I do not know how I would react, probably with a great disappointment. But then I would think that maybe there is a reason. Rather sad answer from the seller, sometimes it is not the price, but the feeling for a doll that is more important.
I think that with the work you did on her, she looks very pretty! And the dress you had on hand, suits her very well. She is adorable.
    Hugs!

    1. Hi Niina.
Yes very poor answer, and now she's abused me for leaving neutral feedback!! Would never deal with this company ever again and certainly wish now I had left negative feedback, but then that would mean dropping down to their level of rudeness.
I noticed now they have listed the same doll I initially ordered at $159.99 at $175.99 so they're never going to loose any money over it! I certainly would have if I'd had to send the doll back, sometimes I think that's what companies like this count on so they don't have to rectify their own stupid mistakes.
Thank you, but I'm still not that happy with the bright red lipstick.

  6. What a disappointment to receive a different doll than the one you have ordered, I would not like it to happen to me regardless of its price, I think that the ones that we collect dolls we choose because they have something special that makes us want to have them in our collection.
You have left it beautiful, of course after passing through your hands it is a really beautiful doll and having articulated arms and legs you will be able to take very different photos, I am thinking that if this doll has reached you, maybe it is because she chose you, instead of you her, I'm sure she will be very happy with you.

    1. You are so right Maribel and had she been purchased locally I would have definitely sent her back to be replaced with the correct doll. However, sending back to the USA would have been far too expensive as they don't reimburse postage and who's to say the same problem would not reoccur with this company that didn't take the appropriate care in the first place.

Perhaps you are right, maybe she did want to come to Australia. She may well have wanted to leave people that had no real feeling for dolls. I hope she will be happy here too.

  7. The Doll Peddler has had a bad reputation for years; I'm not sure why they're still in business. I hope that you and Patience grow on each other. :)

    1. I should have realised Barb, I only remembered yesterday, this was the same rude company which didn't bother to reply to me when I made an enquiry about the "White on White Ellowyne Wilde". I'm surprised they are, the way they treat and speak to their customers.
I do like her, it's just that I preferred the other one's peachy colouring, but I guess I could always change the lip colour if it continues to really bug me.

  8. She's really a cute doll, but it's dissapointing, that they didn't send you the one ypur ordered, plus she arrived in such a poor condition. Doll Pedler bad reputation is well earned, it would seem :(. Still, I hope you will be happy with her, she looks lovely now :)!

    1. Yes, she is Chiriann. I'm almost over the disappointment now, the more I play with her the better I like her, so I think maybe Maribel is right in thinking the doll chose me. :)

  9. How frustrating! I can not believe they sent the wrong doll! NO, actually, I can believe it. So sorry, but you did an amazing transformation on her. She looks adorable now!
I am glad to hear that you are liking her better and no longer feeing so disappointed.

    Hugs

    1. I think there's nothing more disappointing when you are looking forward to a particular doll to open a package to find a different one. After listening to other doll collectors experiences with this company, I am no longer surprised it happened and now she's been redressed I'm okay with her.
