Where Have All The Bloggers Gone?

It's been very quiet around here for such a long time, so many of the regular bloggers have ceased to post ~ haven't heard a word from Sharon, Rachael, Alejandra, Alasse or Phillis for months now. Even Niina and Lily have been quiet for a few weeks. I do hope everyone is okay and that they haven't given up blogging altogether.

I know Alasse has been busy with other things as I have had an email from her, and I'm sure she will share her news in time.

Most of my time has been spent listing dolls and other dolly related stuff on eBay, but as soon as I sell a few things, I replace them with new purchases, like these gorgeous Easter Bonnets for my Ruby Red girls.

PHOTOS: Courtesy of Janette (I cropped them)

I had these made by Janette, a local girl who sells on Etsy . . . you can see her store here. I initially purchased the hat below (which was in stock) for another doll, but I loved the style so much I was inspired to make my girls new dresses to match the hat's I commissioned (which I will show later as they are not completed yet).

I sew and knit quite competently, but when it comes to crochet I am not so hot. I have always loved all types of millinery myself, so I guess it's only natural I should want my dolls to wear them too. Do you like hats on dolls? If you do, I can assure you Janette has various styles to suit most dolls, her prices are reasonable and she will ship overseas. She is also great to work with if you want something special. Pop on over when you get a chance.

  1. I've been reading but haven't had the energy to post or even comment.
I've been having a rough time of it. I've had two surgeries this year (I nearly wrote so far but two had better be it) and recovery has been rough because it turns out I'm allergic to dissolving stitches. They pulled out what they could last Friday and now I feel like I'm on the mend, finally.
Hopefully I'll be back soon. Also I'm going to order a Stella soon.

    1. Oh I am sorry to hear that Rachael, I guess that would have been really rough having that sort of allergy too...surgery alone is bad enough, but I'm glad you are on the mend now.
Congratulations, you won't be sorry, they are fun dolls.
      Happy Easter and big hugs,
      X

  2. Oh, they are super cute! I am with you on the crocheting. I can manage some very simple basic crocheting, but that's it. Janette's hats are a very pretty find. My favorite is the second last, I love the color. I hope you are having a happy Easter and time to spoil your dolls - and yourself.

    1. They really are, and there are others that I have my eye on too! Easter is going to be a fairly quiet one, not doing much, probably more stash sorting and with no chocolate eggs either!
Happy Easter to you too, big hugs,

  3. Hi Sandi,
I love the hats, and most of my dolls love hats too. The colors are so are great for spring. I have a soft spot for purples so that is my favorite.

    Hugs,
    Dorian

    1. Hi Dorian,
I never really thought about them being spring colours, but you are right, they are definitely looking that way . . . and cheerful too! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. Oh yes, it's similar here in Poland too... Many bloggers ceased activity and I can only hope, that nothing bad happened to them, with pandemic raging here and so. It's realy scary.
The hats are incredibly cute, I especially love the last one!
Stay safe and Happy Easter!! Hugs, hugs!

    1. It's difficult when people simply cease blogging, it leaves us with so many questions, so I hope nothing terrible has happened to them too Cheriann.
Thank you, you too! Big hugs,

  5. I'm pleased Linda, did you find anything to tempt you. ๐Ÿ˜Š I know this is often the way of things, people try it for a few years then move on to other things, so I hope you are right and it's only a temporary glitch.
    Thank you, big hugs,

  6. That is one of the reasons I did the "discovering new blogs" thing last year. So many bloggers seem to be less active than usual and it's great to find new blogs to read. I haven't been very active commenting, but I've been working on some posts for my blogs.
I think that Niina was busy with her studies. However, she's been posting some photos on Instagram, which sometimes is followed by a blog post. Sharon has also been posting on Instagram, mostly dolls and puppies, so I will assume she's fine. I hope everyone comes back soon.
Those hats are very cute, I'm sure that your dolls will look adorable wearing them. Good luck with the selling.

    Wish you a lovely weekend.

    1. Thanks for the update on Niina and Sharon. Unfortunately I have never been able to get Instagram to work on my computer, so I don't get to see their photos. They say a picture paints a thousand words, but to be honest, I really miss their chatter!
Thank you MC, you too! ๐Ÿ˜˜

    2. Hello! That is true! I have been taking three (!!) courses since January and have been busy with it. But my Summer vacation is around the corner and I am looking forward to that. Just need to write four short essays on Nordic Noir and Gothic stories. Very interesting but time taking to read so many novels and stories.
I miss blogging and have not stopped, so I will start to chatter soon! Had plans to write something for the Fourth of May, Star Wars Day but it all ended up on Instagram. I think that it only works well on a smart phone through an app, have never tried it through computer.
Take care and enjoy the weekend! :) Hugs!

  7. I miss seeing more bloggers around too. I haven't even't been blogging as much as I would like. I didn't even feel up to putting together an Easter doll display. I agree with you about Instagram versus blogging. I participate in Instagram to bring more attention to my blog, and I like the conversations and descriptions that blogging offers.

I love your girls' new Easter hats! The colors are beautiful; I like the blue and purple the best.

    1. I wonder what it is Barb, is it that Covid is having some sort of effect on us or are we just becoming bored with what we normally write about? Generally I feel fine, but I know I haven't been as motivated to post as I normally am. I still look forward to reading everyone's blogs though and I do miss those who have been absent.

Thank you, I'm not really sure if they will go with their current outfits or whether I will make something else. Only time will tell. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

    2. Human beings are social, and I know that I have missed the opportunities to meet up with friends. The big exhibition center near me, that had all kinds of shows and activities all year round, closed for good last year. It's even difficult to take a vacation. We just aren't made to live like this, and I know I've been cycling into depression a lot more than usual.

  8. Beautiful hats, your dolls look lovely. I blog less because I do more activities. Keep well. Hugs.

    1. Thank you, I am so happy to have them, Janette does a wonderful job. I understand we all have a life outside of blogging and that sometimes we all need time out, but you are still here and that's great!

  9. Thank you for visiting my blog, I have just followed yours. Those hats are gorgeous!

Sadly I think IG, FB and the like seem to take over from blogging which is a real shame, as you can easily miss someones 'post' that way. I still much prefer blogging and good ol' fashioned (as they are now) forums where you could have a proper conversation. Seems that most just prefer the very superficial approach of a quick snap, click of 'like' and move on.

    1. Hi Serenata, and welcome we have a lovely crowd of bloggers here from all over but you are my first Kiwi! YAY!

I agree, I don't use either of them for the same reason. I love the friendly chats we have on blogger. We all collect dolls, not all the same type either, and we also share other dolly related interests, such as sewing, knitting, photography, dioramas etc. etc. So I hope you'll join us.
      Big hugs,
