Introducing Denise

She is a Kaye Wiggs Mini Leyla, fair skin with freckles. She arrived nude with pale blue eyes, but they were very light, so I changed them, added the blonde wig and dressed her.

I am calling her Denise. And that does it for me, at least for now, I have no more dolls in the pipeline . . . unless of course, I am fortunate enough to receive an message from Kaye (she has an occasional sample doll for sale) or an email from Joyce (I'm on her waiting list again).

I think she has an innocent look about her. What do you think?

Sunday

Sunday Snippet

Five year old Malcolm was a lovable, talkative little boy. He seemed to have boundless energy from morning till night, and there were times when he almost exhausted his devoted parents.

One afternoon a kindly minister ... a friend of the family ... called at the house. After a short while he brought Malcolm into the general conversation. "Tell me, do you say your prayers every night?"

Malcolm stared at the carpet. "Not every night."

"Indeed! And why is that?" asked the minister, his eyes twinkling.

The boy looked up and smiled. "Daddy says them for me. When he carries me upstairs he often says - "Well, thank God you'll soon be fast asleep and the house will be quiet." Malcolm paused, "And then I say 'Amen'."

Age is a Quality of Mind

Age is a quality of mind.
If you've left your dreams behind,
If Hope is cold,
If you no longer look ahead,
If your ambition's fires are dead.
Then you are old.

But if from Life you take the best,
In Life you keep the zest,
If Love you hold,
No matter how the years go by,
No matter how the birthdays fly,
You are not old.

Friday

These Boots . . .

. . . were made for walking.

Did you know that dolls have shoe fetishes just like humans? Well it turns out Cassandra is one of those dolls. I recently ordered her one or two pairs of boots to go with the outfits I was knitting her and a few more in different colours for other dolls I have with similar sized feet . . . 10 pairs in total.

And, guess what? When they arrived today, she claimed the blooming lot!!

Now I have been given notice to make her outfits to match each pair. Who would have thought this pretty little girl would turn out to be such a bossy boots?

She is wearing the second outfit, but the blue cardi turned out a little larger than expected, even though it was knitted with the same brand of 4ply wool and to the same pattern as the pink cardi. Go figure! Anyway I am going to attempt to shrink it by felting the wool.

Oh and before you go . . . I caved already and have just purchased a Kaye Wiggs Mini Layla.

Wednesday

Cassandra Arrived!

Yes, she's here and she's all mine! 😁 This doll was really worth waiting for. You may notice her left brow is slightly lower than the her right, but I quite like that she's a little asymmetrical, after all, humans are that way IRL.

Who said a redhead can't wear pink? I knitted the outfit for her while I waited and am pleased it fitted her so well.

She also has another outfit almost done, just have to sew up the cardi and add buttons. :)

Hope you are all having a lovely dolly week!

Oops! Almost Tempted

December 2017 was to see the end to my dolly splurging. I thought 80 BJD's and 40 play dolls were quite enough to keep me busy for the rest of my days! And surely they should be, and besides which, I simply don't have the room for any more.

I kept telling myself there was a very positive side to this decision . . . like having more money to spend on shoes, wigs, backdrops, as well as fabrics and yarns to make new clothes for all my dolls. However, looking at my many different stashes, I really do doubt if I will ever need more than I have already.

Now in making that decision in December and being quite determined to stop the impulse buying, I had no idea that one of the dolls that had been sitting quietly on my wish list, would suddenly become available. Not to mention, the doll was in stock at the time, so no waiting apart from the shipping time.

Oh my! What a dilemma I was facing . . .  will I? Or won't I? I mean, just how often do these dolls appear on an IN STOCK list? The temptation was great . . . however she was a TINY and just 11" tall, so I didn't cave in this time. Had she been a MINI it might have been a different story. :)

So to keep to my numbers and allow a space for a future Kaye Wiggs 13" doll, I plan to sell the one doll I rarely play with as separate pieces and being Volks the parts are very heavy. Please see My 4 Sale page.

This year, I am more determined to catch up on all the outstanding dolly projects which I planned to do last year. I shall, of course, continue my obsession of knitting and sewing for dolls. With a little luck perseverance, I might even manage to write a few more short stories and organise a new dolly clothes shop. :)

Most importantly, I plan on organising all my doll clothes and shoes into sizes, so I can see at a glance, what is going to fit a particular doll that I plan on dressing. It shouldn't be too difficult, but could become a little time consuming, so I'll be back online when I'm done.

A Little Bear Who'll Steal Your Heart

Hubby and I risked the kiddy crowd today and went to see . . .

. . . if you get the chance to see it, please do. It's a real feel good movie, wonderful for the children and even better for adults of all ages, especially old sops like me! It made me laugh and cry.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week.

Do You Belive in Fairies?

Do you believe in fairies?
Could fairies really exist?
Do they live in flowers and gardens?
Do they play in the morning mist?

Do they tend to nature
With loving care?
Do they fly through the forests?
Would we see them there?

Are they oh so gentle?
Are they heaven sent?
Do they fly with the butterflies
Until the day is spent?

Oh I would love to see them,
To catch sight of them at play,
Dancing around the flowers,
Just going about their day.

P.S. Just in case you're wondering why the blog has been so quiet lately . . . I kissed a frog and he turned into a prince . . . which in turn has kept me quite busy!

Have a great week!
